Top Pick Stats: 152/456 (-$158.20) Best Bets: 18/42 (-$19.20) Spot Plays: 9/43 (-$40.50) Best Bet: ZETTE ATHENA (Race 9) Spot Play: PRIVATE ACCESS (Race 10) Early Pick 5: 2,3,9/1/5,7/4,5,8/1 $3.60 Middle Pick 5: 1,6,8/2,7/5,6/4,6/5 $4.80 Late Pick-5: 4,6/5/3,6/3,6/1,2,10 $4.80 Race 1: 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS: NW 1 RACE OR $8,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. (3) MAJOR MIKI should get plenty of support at the windows after his vicious closing kick got him into contention on debut. He dropped five seconds from his winning qualifier. (2) NO WAITLIST has been busy chasing Beau Jangles for most of his young career. This drop in class, combined with his tactical early speed, should allow him to create a good trip. (9) TICKET STATION took another step forward in his latest, but was no match for the pumped up Callsign Rooster. He should be forwardly-placed and can battle to hit the board. (7) EVANS LEGACY was almost 20 lengths back at the start but produced a similarly impressive stretch kick to nearly grab a check. There should be speed to chase again. Race 2: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GOLD LEG 4. 3 YEAR OLD TROTTING COLTS & GELDINGS. STARTING FEE $900 CDN ($700 USD). (1) P L SPENCER has been excellent this season and qualified well last week to stay sharp. This race should set up with him getting plenty of respect. (4) LMC WAGON WHEEL got a good tightener under his belt when racing against older foes last time. He could get a perfect trip tonight. (2) GALEN ERSO has been out-matched in his last two efforts in Kentucky, but pulled off an upset win three starts ago at this level. I would look for him to rebound if he minds his manners. (3) RITCHIE RICH was sharp at the start of summer, but has only raced once since June 23. I would expect him to be a step short. Race 3: CASUAL BREEZE: 3 YEAR OLD FILLIES. STARTING FEE $1,000 CDN $775 USD. (5) LASTING DREAM is back in just six days after another sharp Stateside win. She is in very good form to say the least and should get a majority of the respect. (7) STORMONT BEAUTIFUL tends to pack a bigger punch when the big money is on the line. She was handled more aggressively last time, and it cost her when the pace got western. She may have to make two moves again, but can finish well to get a big piece. (6) GLOBAL HERITAGE doesn't have the resume that others might, but she has worked her way back up the ranks for top connections. She did the same thing last year and got a piece when racing in the Champlain. (3) MEDLEY SEELSTER was taking her time getting back to the races, and the patience paid off as she got the job done in her first start of the season. She can step forward and get a share. Race 4: 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES: NW 1 RACE OR $8,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. (5) ANNIES DIVA was moving extremely well in the late stages after sitting at the back. Her first two starts resulted in sharp wins in PEI. I would expect her to be handled more aggressively tonight. (4) LAVENDER SEELSTER is logical off the big drop from stakes company but has shown to be quirky. She could try to blitz these, and I wouldn’t put it past her to be successful with that attempt. (8) COLD CREEK OTIJA is a filly I could be getting suckered in on, but she showed more potential on the big track, and J-Mac can get more out of young horses without taxing them too much. Watch the board and Will Pays, for this race especially. (3) OFFICER HOPPS has been well-beaten in each of her three career starts, but none of those trips were going to work. Look for her to be more involved and sneak through for a piece. Race 5: 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS: NW 1 RACE OR $8,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. (1) EXPLOSIVE LANDING was a very strong winner in his debut qualifier. He deserves all the respect that should come his way. (5) MASSCHETTE has improved since moving to the big track. Another step forward could have him in a striking spot. (7) BOB FROM HOCKEY showed his potential last week when able to stay flat. The hopples have appeared to help. (10) COMMANDER SAUL has used his sustained middle move to get into the race multiple times. He can close for a share. Race 6: MAPLE LEAF TROT ELIMINATION: 3 YEAR OLDS & OLDER OPEN. STARTING FEE: $5,000 CDN $3,875 USD. (6) AETOS KRONOS S comes off a dominant score in the Vincennes and is likely to get most of the front-end respect. (1) CALL ME GOO has done little wrong in five starts this year and could get a perfect trip if handled aggressively. She couldn't quite get the job done after cutting the mile, but I don’t foresee that trip for her tonight. (8) SECURITY PROTECTED is a price horse I have to use somewhere. I was impressed with his effort two back where he was stick handling between horses. Look for him to be moving best of all in the late stages. (2) HIGHLAND KISMET got back to winning form with an easy win at The Red Mile. He has done very well at this track in the past. Race 7: 2 YEAR OLD OPEN. (2) TROUBLE WITH NAMES went off at a bargain price of 3-1 when you consider just how easily he was able to win on debut. He should slot in well against these stakes types. (7) MIKE ME UP stepped up to OSS Gold company in his latest and pulled off the upset. Nobody could catch him once he touched down on the lead. He should sit a good trip in here and be in contention when turning for home. (6) CAPTAIN CODE is methodical about getting into the race but can do some damage when he sustains his move. Look for aggressiveness from the horse that Scott Young lands on. (5) ANOTHER GREAT MASS made his first real error last time when breaking at the start. He is another who can show speed and battle throughout the mile. ► Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter Race 8: 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS: GRASSROOTS STARTERS (MAY BE DIVIDED BY EARNINGS). (6) ILLICIT BEHAVIOR stands out here off the strength of his win two starts ago. He held his own against OSS Gold company in a race that featured Beau Jangles. (5) BARRACUDA HANOVER is rounding into winning form, and was able to successfully take air on the outside and nearly win the sprint home last week. He makes sense as an exacta partner. (8) HARBOR FURY made two moves en route to a win in just his third career start. I was impressed with that mile and this post will help inflate his price. (3) BRINDLE came out swinging with two wins to start his career. He will need to rebound tonight. Race 9: CASUAL BREEZE: 3 YEAR OLD FILLIES. STARTING FEE $1,000 CDN $775 USD. (6) ZETTE ATHENA was a strong winner in her latest when handled aggressively. The gap was slowly diminishing, but McClure had it measured. Similar tactics should be in play tonight when racing for the big money. (4) FOXY AMEE was sitting close to a hot pace last week and managed a strong second after not racing for nearly a month. You should expect her to be forwardly-placed, too. (2) SPRITE SEELSTER has been a regular stakes player this year and has yet to miss the board in 2025. She can sit close and sprint home for a piece. (3) TITIAN moves from a top barn to another top barn, but I wonder just how much they can get out of this filly who regularly comes up short. She will be a shorter price than necessary. Race 10: MAPLE LEAF TROT ELIMINATION: 3 YEAR OLDS & OLDER OPEN. STARTING FEE: $5,000 CDN $3,875 USD. (5) PRIVATE ACCESS had the dubious distinction of towing Periculum into the perfect trip on Hambo Day. He puts forth a good effort every time and is a horse I'll take a shot with to steal this elimination. (2) PERICULUM makes a ton of sense, but he got that aforementioned perfect trip and will be a very short price. (1) LEXUS KODY has the most early speed out of anyone here and is likely to be on or near the lead when turning for home. He can hold on for a piece. (8) LOGAN PARK has a great record at Mohawk and held his own against Grand Circuit company in the Spirit of Massachusetts. I would think he is at least floated out from the outside. Race 11: FILLIES & MARES PREFERRED. (6) CAVIAR N CRACKERS could be set for a speed try after two races from off-the-pace. She has done well in both, but you're just never going to catch mares who get 57 and change middle-halves when the track plays like this. I think she rebounds. (3) COCO JO JO comes off a career-best smashing mile after sitting a perfect trip. It's hard to ignore an effort like that; J-Mac should be aggressive again. (4) IN THE SPOTLIGHT N has been driven extremely well by JR Plante, who is rating her the perfect amount for the sprint home. She is likely to be first to the front. (8) TELLS ON A ROLL was a solid third last week when stepping back up to the top level. I see her looking for a live helmet and closing for a share. Race 12: FILLIES & MARES, NW $9,000 LAST 5 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $50,000. AE: NW $92,500 LIFETIME. AE: N/A $2,255 P/S IN 2024 OR 2025. (3) BLUEMEA KISS should be in drop-and-pop mode after drawing outside posts in her last two efforts. She has continued to stay in form from early in the summer. (6) MADRID A made it three wins in-a-row last week after sitting another close trip. She is very quick off the car. (9) ABSOLUTION could only manage fifth when chasing the aforementioned Coco Jo Jo from well off-the-pace. I can see her getting into this race a lot easier and passing many. (5) A FEW CHOICE WORDS is a mare I've liked in the past, but it's more difficult for her when things don't go her way up front. I'll use her underneath. Race 13: FILLIES & MARES, NW $6,000 LAST 5 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $30,000. AE: N/A $1,865 P/S LAST 10 STARTS. (10) LADYTERRA was the beaten favorite last week, but had reason to be a little tired after sprinting in the third quarter. I'll try her as a down-the-road prospect in the finale. (2) GIMMIE A CORONA just missed after sprinting home up the inside. She has looked better since the claim. (1) BLINDED BY DELIGHT has hit the board in each of her last two efforts. I can see her sitting an inside trip and knifing through to do the same tonight. (7) CHIEFS DREAM GIRL tends to work from off the pace and could have plenty of speed to chase. She can close for a piece. (9) CARSONS GOUDA sat a perfect trip last week but couldn't get the job done. She can round out tonight's Hi-5.
