Top Pick Stats: 69/211 (-$134.00) Best Bets: 7/19 (-$9.10); Spot Plays: 3/19 (-$23.80) Best Bet: A FEW CHOICE WORDS (Race 9) Spot Play: BINGO NIGHT (Race 2) Early Pick 5: 1,3,5/4/2/3,5,8/1,7   $3.60 Late Pick 5: 6,8/2/3,5,8/3/1,3   $2.40 Race 1: 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS: NW 1 RACE OR $8,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. (3) THIRTY SIX RED was a strong winner in his only morning prep. He looms as a major player in this race if he steps forward. (1) CAR WASH BLUES was facing some tougher horses and did himself no favors when getting away last. I can see him stepping forward tonight. (5) EXACTLY CORRECT showed good speed in both morning preps and is well bred. Curious about his trip, but he should do okay.  (7) PHILLYS STRANGER made a break in his debut when well bet. I’ll count on him to rebound tonight and hit the board.  [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GOLD LEG 2. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $900 CDN ($700 USD). (4) BINGO NIGHT put away Gold company in her latest, and although she was certainly helped by the scratch of A Splash Of Green, she took care of business. I think she provides a better price than (8) FLOWING TRIBUTE showed plenty of ability on debut when capitalizing off a pocket trip and going by. She is the other main contender here. (6) CALGARY MORNING trotted home well but would’ve needed a ridiculous final quarter to make up decent ground on the leaders. Look for her to be handled more aggressively. (7) CHER HILL raced well to hit the board last time out. She should be in the mix for a check again. Race 3: FILLIES & MARES PREFERRED. (2) CAVIAR N CRACKERS is back in top form and is the mare to beat right now. (4) GLENBORO continues to outrace her odds and make herself known as a top level contender. Until they start using her more, she will continue to spice up exotics. (7) GRIT N GRACE should get an aggressive steer with the wide draw and should be in the mix late. I have no idea where the win by (5) STYLE FOR A MILE came from. I can’t rate her higher than this until she does it consistently. Race 4: 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS: NW 1 RACE OR $8,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. (3) MANDESTINY was moving well in his one and only morning prep, and we’ve seen Cattlewash progeny step forward a bunch. (5) CALYPSO CREEK should take another step forward in the speed department on the big track. He draws perfectly to be forwardly placed. (8) DONTENVYME HANOVER was an easy winner from the same post in his second qualifier. Assuming McNair gives him the nod, he should be another contender. (1) RIKKI ROCKETT is likely to float out from the rail and try to close for a share. Race 5: 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES: NW 1 RACE OR $8,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. (1) SHURI showed decent speed but was up against it from a pace scenario standpoint. A better trip could have her right in the mix. (7) CONTROL YOUR BET has shown excellent late speed, but will need to get away closer if she wants to make a real impact late. She interests me at a price. (5) LDS KIMBERLY held second after an outside move that was aided by slow fractions. We could see a more forward trip tonight. (2) ALL BETS ON KELLY was well bet on debut but made an early break. She can rebound and get a piece. Race 6: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GOLD LEG 2. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $900 CDN ($700 USD). (8) M E LAUREL wasn’t pushed after being passed in the stretch by Flowing Tribute. I think she’ll come back this week just as strong and is one I’ll try again. (6) HP CRYSTALINE flew home late to finish a very good second. If she continues to improve, she could get the job done. (1) A SPLASH OF GREEN was set to be a strong favorite in leg one of the Gold, but was scratched sick. If she is near 100%, I expect a strong effort out of her. (4) FIGURATIVELY grinded well to stay in the race and continued to make up ground the whole way. Another step forward puts her right there in a competitive race. Race 7: DREAM MAKER: 2 YEAR OLD OPEN PACE. LEG 1. (2) SWEET LOVIN LOU has high speed and got the job done on debut as the favorite. J-Mac’s decision looms large. (7) LDS HUNTER has the ability to fire off the car and sit a pocket trip if both favorites don’t quarter move. He did it last time and raced well. (4) DAD got the job done last week and makes a logical jump to a stake. He is another fast colt. (3) BEACHSIDE LINDY finished second to Dad last time out. He will need to mind his manners. Race 8: 3 YEAR OLD FILLIES: GRASSROOTS OR PROSPECT STARTERS NW $20,000 LAST 5 STARTS. (5) SIMPLY THE BEST has the necessary speed on both ends of her miles to be a major factor tonight. This is a tricky group to gauge. (8) SOMETHING IN BLUE went way too quick near the lead last time. I would expect her to be forward but rated a little more. (3) TRICKY WICKY regularly outraces her odds and should be passing horses late again. (2) LADY CAFE AU LAIT loves to hit the board but not get the job done. I’ll slot her underneath as a potential underlay tonight. Race 9: FILLIES & MARES, NW $18,500 LAST 5 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $70,000. AE: NW $100,000 LIFETIME. (3) A FEW CHOICE WORDS had to wait for room to develop, and once it did, Style For A Mile already had the jump. She raced extremely well and deserves another try. (4) TELLS ON A ROLL just didn’t get her kind of trip last week. Maybe two back was a fluke, but we’ll see tonight. (2) ABSOLUTION was sitting on a win for a while and got the job done. She should get into the race and be part of the mix for a board hit. (5) ODDS ON PLATINUM seems like a horse that needs everything to go her way in order to get a win right now. I don’t see that happening tonight. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 10: POP UP SERIES FINAL: FILLIES & MARES NW $25,000 IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). AE: STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $10,000 OR LESS IN LAST START. (1) BLINDED BY DELIGHT was right there on the wire in a three across photo. She has raced great in this Pop-Up and is a logical contender. (3) ONLYTHEGOODDIYOUNG finally gets some post relief and is the type of horse that continues to grind, even when others get tired. I wouldn’t overlook her. (4) MISS CHANTILLY N was also in that photo and just missed after battling hard. McNair should have her on the move in the early stages. (6) CHELSIS CHOICE was put into the race and pulled a stunning upset at almost 50-1. She can hit the board if the trip works out. Race 11: FILLIES & MARES, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER NW 2 RACES OR $15,000 (ON SIRED $18,750) LIFETIME. AE: 4 YO NW $4,200 L10. AE: 3 YO N/A $2,500 P/S IN 2024-25. I’d like to think (4) ITHADTOBEYOU won’t just ride the rail and hope for a trip to open up again. At some point, she has to be unleashed, and she’ll probably win. (7) LAYDEE FREIGHT charged home up the inside and passed a bunch of rivals. She could spice up exotics in a big way if she puts a big effort forward. (8) KIKI DEE HANOVER is knocking on the door of another win. Her three starts since shipping in have been very good. (3) WHOLE LOTTA ROSIE draws a much better post tonight which should allow her to be forward and fight for a piece. (1) COLD CREEK ESPERO makes just her fourth start back and is getting stronger with each. She can round out the Hi-5 tonight.
