Woodbine Mohawk Park: Analysis for Friday 7/11

Kevin Plowcha|Jul 09, 2025
Mohawk Logo 1.5

Top Pick Stats: 40/146 (-$128.60)

Best Bets: 5/13 (-$5.50); Spot Plays: 2/13 (-$15.60)

Best Bet: MISS CHANTILLY N (Race 5)

Spot Play: M E LAUREL (Race 6)

Early Pick 5: 1,2,6/2,6/2,6/3,7/6 $4.80

Late Pick 5: 7/6,7,8/6,9/2,3,8/3 $3.60

Race 1: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 (FM 4) RACES OR $25,000 LIFETIME.

(2) ARTFUL DODGER is rounding into top form and appears to be sitting on a win. I thought he was overbet last week but he proved me wrong. (1) ZETTE ATHENA has shown more when racing from further back and now adds Lasix. She appears dangerous if she finds a live helmet. (6) SUNDAY SHOES has shined in these conditions recently and should be forwardly placed. (8) CALL ME PARKER won easily in his latest but will need a little more when stepping up.

Race 2: FILLIES & MARES, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER NW $26,500 LIFETIME. AE: 4 YR OLDS N/A $1,625 P/S IN 2024-25.

(6) PIZZAZZ HANOVER tried to make two moves against a strong duo of contenders, but still paced a good mile. Louis Roy should give him every chance this week. (2) ACEFORTYFOUR LADY gets a key driver change this week which could get a little more out of her. She likes to be forward as well. (5) KIKI DEE HANOVER got a setup in her latest and capitalized. She could see a similar trip fall in her lap again. (8) MARLENES LEGACY got the job done against a weak bunch. She could be overbet in this spot.

[DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Mohawk Park card at 1/ST BET PRO!]

Race 3: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GOLD LEG 1. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $900 CDN ($700 USD).

(2) A SPLASH OF GREEN was excellent on debut and was wrapped up in the late stages. She looms as a repeat player if she minds her manners. (6) BINGO NIGHT was a strong winner in her debut, especially given the moves she made. She blasted from post nine to get the lead, then pulled from third at the top of the stretch and cruised in the end. More to come from her. (1) BARBARA MAY tracked a nice winner in One Belle the entire way around on debut. We’ll see how she handles the rail. (4) CUPID HALL was just even on debut despite the flashy final quarter. She can get a check.

Race 4: 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES: NW 1 RACE OR $8,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES.

(3) IN SESSION was moving extremely well in the late stages of her only morning prep. She should take a step forward on debut. (7) MEME QUEEN raced well to hold third behind two sharp looking fillies. Roy should have her on the move early. (2) WALNERS GROVE got caught in the late stages but trotted a fine mile. Can she step forward? (4) WISHUPONASTAR DEO was up against it with the slow pace in front of her. She intrigues me at a price.

Race 5: POP UP SERIES: FILLIES & MARES NW $25,000 IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). AE: STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $10,000 OR LESS IN LAST START. LEG 1.

(6) MISS CHANTILLY N needs a better setup but could find it against a different bunch tonight. She has been pacing fast miles. (3) BLINDED BY DELIGHT has two solid races off the bench at Kawartha Downs and should take a step forward when returning to the big track. (9) ONLYTHEGOODDIYOUNG has been facing much tougher company as of late. She took advantage of the class drop back in late May, but will need to work out a trip from this post. (1) STONEBRIDGE DRAMA comes off two confidence boosting wins and could snag a piece if forwardly placed.

Race 6: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GOLD LEG 1. 2 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $900 CDN ($700 USD).

(7) M E LAUREL was closing extremely well down the center of the track under a big hold by McClure. His choice looms large here. (5) FLOWING TRIBUTE was likely a major contender in her June 26 race but was scratched. She came back even better in her latest morning prep and appears to be in this spot for a reason. (3) CALGARY MORNING earned plenty of respect in her debut when winning from post ten. She should contend again. (6) SOCIAL WIZARD has a flashy time but was tracking for most of the way. If repeated, she can get the job done, but I’m not so sure it can happen again.

Race 7: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 (FM 4) RACES OR $25,000 LIFETIME.

(6) ULTRA MYLES has found top form as of late and should be given every chance again from a perfect middle post. (8) FRENCHMONI HANOVER was up against slow fractions but still found her way to a check. She has value as an exotics booster if she can find a live helmet. (7) YOU GUESSED IT needs to string together consistent efforts, but last week was a start. (5) OUTBOUND TRAIN tried a middle move into a fast pace and logically faded. What does he bring tonight?

Race 8: 2 YEAR OLDS: NW 1 RACE OR $8,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES.

(6) ROYAL CAPTAIN was strong in his only morning prep and appears to be ready to roll at first asking. (9) CAPTAIN MICAH draws wide but was heavily bet on debut. Expect much more from him tonight. (2) ICE PACK made sharp improvement in his second qualifier and looks like another main contender. (5) CLASSIFIED won his second morning prep but his gait was shaky at times. I’ll be against tonight.

Race 9: FILLIES & MARES, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) OR $8,500 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES.

(2) CATCH MY PASSION has been close in recent starts and has the versatility to contend with any trip. (8) WICKED WORDS picks up the leading driver tonight when shipping in from Kawartha. She should be forwardly placed. (3) WHO ARE YOU has the speed to contend, but the trip needs to go her way. (6) ITLL BE ALRIGHT is another that should be forward but will need more in the late stages.

Race 10: FILLIES & MARES PREFERRED.

(3) CAVIAR N CRACKERS put her best effort together since the Forest City Pace. She is set for another big effort tonight. (5) BLUE ME A KISS is in top form right now and gets a deserving chance at this level. She can add value to the exotics. (4) BLUE PACIFIC is probably the second most likely winner, and could get the lead if McNair is aggressive. (6) CENTURY JAMILA broke in her latest but was picking up checks prior.

Race 11: FILLIES & MARES, NW $6,000 LAST 5 STARTS (W/O $22,000 LAST 10 N/E) AE: OPT. CLM. $30,000.

(2) KELLINA DIAMOND has raced well lately when sitting up close. Could find her way to a perfect trip at a square number. (1) ONE LAST BET has been right there but the 0-for-22 looms large. I can’t pull the trigger until she wins one. (4) CAUGHTSTEALINGHOME should get another setup here and will be flying late. (6) GOT SEXY SCARS should have won last week in my opinion. Her price may float up tonight. (10) CHICKABELL fits at this level but draws widest. Could work her way into the race, but it’s always tough from post ten.
