Race 1: F&M 4YO and Younger NW2 or $36,000 LT **$75,000 Guaranteed Pick 5**
(2) ROSE RUN VICTORIA made a huge recovery after breaking early vs. last year's champion two-year-old filly and she should be tough in here if she behaves. (4) MY BABY GIRL has never been better, and she should be a square price here again; using. (10) POSTMODERNISM got to stretch her legs when saddled with the 9-hole last time and she can improve sharply here at a price. (5) BEACH SPORTS figures to improve in this spot and she may be ranked a bit low here as I search for value underneath the choice.
Race 2: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS 2YO FILLIES
(8) BAREFOOTNPREGNANT ran onto some serious road trouble in the stretch in her debut and I'll give her the nod here over (4) DOCS DELIGHT, who is out of a dam that produces racehorses that win early (see 1/2-sister Docs Harmony who won here on June 30th). (2) SPORTSFIRE also had some traffic issues in the lane and she is another contender here tonight. (1) TURNING THE TABLE is a full sister to three winners; consider using on the bottom of the exotics.
Race 3: NW3 (F&M5) or $40,000 (F&M $50,000) LT
(4) PORT PERRY has yet to get untracked this year, but this is a good spot for him, and he should be right there vs. these if he behaves. (1) GODSPELL HALL is interesting here: the horse that won the June 5th race has come back to finish third twice in the Graduate Series, recently trotting a mile in 1:51 3/5. I'll toss him on this early Pick 5 ticket. (5) KUIL DEVA has been sharp in all recent starts but her history suggests she is more likely to take a slice than a win. (6) BATTLE BORN AS is worth a look at a price going for a hot barn.
Race 4: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS 2YO FILLIES - Pick 4
(5) DRINKS ALL ROUND showed some late interest racing against Bet On Becky who came back Tuesday night to pace the fastest mile by a two-year-old in North America this year. I expect sharp improvement here. (2) KIM is a $19,000 Harrisburg buy who is a 1/2-sister to 20-time winner Senseless Beauty. Her barn is winning with everything right now; using. (4) AWESOME HILL had a tightener from post 9 and she should go forward here starting from a much better post. She is another multi-race possibility. (3) C L SPORTSEXTREME finished her July 4th qualifier well and she can take a share here.
Race 5: Fillies and Mares Claiming Handicap $10,000 to $15,000
Tough race with many ways you can go here. I'll settle on (4) FERN HILL BELLA who gets Roy and a likely beneficial pace setup. (7) P L LIGHTNING has a strong win percentage the past two seasons and picking up Canada's leading dash winner to drive won't hurt; using. (1) LIVELY ROCKET is capable if she gets a trip which she may just do starting from the inside. (2) YNOTHOS is always around the money; consider for the bottom of the exotics.
Race 6: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS 2YO FILLIES
(9) VIRTUAL SUCCESS's 25 3/5 kicker sticks out and if she can get positioned in the top five early, she should be tough to beat at first asking. (2) TWIN B SUNKISSED turned up the early speed in her second qualifier and she is likely the one to catch here. (5) JACKIEOFALLTRADES goes for a barn that has done well with young horses at this meet; consider for the exotics. (1) FRENCH SHAKER raced against Bet on Becky in her debut and it's unlikely there are any as good as that filly in here. Improvement is expected.
Race 7: F&M NW $16,000 L5 or $31,000 L10 or NW 8 or $110,000 LT AE: OPT CLM $35,000
(8) SYLPH HANOVER came within 3/4 of a length of winning a Mares Preferred two starts back and she should enjoy this class relief here. She will almost certainly be sent on a speed mission leaving the gate. (3) HELLO LOVE raced tremendous uncovered last week, and she should contend here despite facing tougher. (7) KLOOF STREET was a winner last time she raced this low and she is another to consider for the cash leg of the early Pick 4. (1) ROLL WITH SPARKY should be good for another small share starting from the inside.
Race 8: F&M 5YO and Younger NW3 or $63,000 LT - Pick 4
(4) BETALADY was blocked when it counted most, or she may have got a win over Alicorn last time. Assuming the intent is there with her racing here between sires stakes engagements, she should be tough. (7) SO DELIGHTFUL just missed in Gold company as well and she looks next best on paper. (2) BEHAVENMYSELF steps up off a nice score and it's possible she could be left alone on the lead for a while in this race. She's not out of this. (9) LYONS GIRLHANOVER has improving form and she can come on late again here to take a smaller share.
Race 9: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS 2YO FILLIES
(1) BEACH MOMENT was 2nd to a filly in her most recent qualifier that debuted with a 1:52 2/5 win at the Gold level. I'll give this 1/2-sister to 1:47 4/5 pacer Geez Joe the nod. (4) CYCLONE SISTER improved sharply in her second qualifier and she's worth a look for this late Pick 4 and Pick 5. (3) SHARE THE MOMENT finished okay in her debut and she can improve here starting from the inside. (6) CELIA BAYAMA had a prep now goes for Moreau; using underneath.
Race 10: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GRASSROOTS 2YO FILLIES
(1) CHIEFS DREAM GIRL produced an excellent effort last week relentlessly pursuing a big favorite and she almost got there. She gets top billing here. (5) ANNIES LEGACY was right behind the choice in that race and she figures to be the main threat. (3) ALFIES GIRL had one promising start at The Meadows and she should get a piece of this. (6) SPITTIN CHICKLETS can improve with one start under her belt; consider using underneath at a price.
Race 11 – F&M 5YO and Younger NW 5 or $92,000 LT
(1) PREMIER CABERNET raced well last week but Hello Love was even better, and she just couldn't close on her in the lane. With the field laden with question marks with a few sires stakes fillies in here between stakes engagements, I'll give this older mare the nod. (4) SASKATOON couldn’t withstand Sandbetweenurtoes' first-over onslaught on the final turn last week. Her price should be good here and I see her bouncing back with a sharp effort. (9) ROSE RUN VANTAGE is obviously one of the best in here, but what kind of a trip will she get from the worst post in a race that is a stepping stone to the next OSS Gold race? Your guess is as good as mine. (3) SPORTY TORI is right there every week and she should take a good slice here. (2) ALL DAY SUNSHINE flew late to get a Gold win, but I see her finishing on the edges here.
