Woodbine Mohawk Park: Analysis for Friday 7/1

Garnet Barnsdale|Jun 29, 2022
Mohawk Logo 1.5

Meet Stats: 319 - 1028 / $1,701.00 (-$355.00)

Best Bets: 53 - 97 / $180.20 (-13.80)

Spot Plays: 28 - 98 / $182.00 (-$14.00)

Best Bet: SPEAKER NANCY (9TH)

Spot Play: BEST HONEY HANOVER (7TH)

Early Pick 5: 2,3,5/7/1,3,6,7/2,4,6/2,5,6 = $21.60

Late Pick 5: 5/1,2,9/1,2,7/5/5,6,7,8,10 = $9

Early Pick 4: 2,4,6/2,5,6/5/1,2,9 = $27

Late Pick 4: 1,2,9/1,2,7/5/5,6,7,8,10 = $45

Race 1: F&M NW $10,000 L5 or $25,000 L10 AE: Starters for a purse of $15,000 or less L4 **Guaranteed $100,000 Pick 5**

(3) IMSHORTANDSWEET N was game in defeat and perhaps pacing a 55 1/5 middle 1/2 took just enough out of her to get her beat. Thinking that Roy gets her covered up tonight, I'll give her the nod. (2) LOVE THAT SMILE, who shows Gold and Grand Circuit lines vs sophomores, is spotted well here and she is an obvious threat. (5) CONTROL THE THONG looked live for the entire mile when beating the choice last week. She has excelled in Auciello's barn and she's hard to toss. (9) TWIN B SUNKISSED made two moves in her comeback race which should have her plenty tight for this start. I see her sitting and rallying for a share.

Race 2: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GOLD Leg 1 2YO Fillies

(7) STARLIGHT DANCER looked good winning as the chalk on debut and I'll give her the call to repeat in this first OSS Gold start. (1) BECA MITCHELL has been flying around Northfield Park in preparation for this debut and she could turn out to be a bargain seeing as she was bought for only $7,000 in Harrisburg. (3) CHEESY SMILE absolutely exploded late to win her debut but that was off her own 3/4 timed in 1:30 4/5. She might get over bet here with the 26-flat kicker showing. (6) MISS CANADA, 2nd to the choice on debut, should be good for another share tonight.

Race 3: 3YO Fillies Grassroots starters

(3) ADDICTIVEBEHAVIOUR was game in defeat last week and more importantly she stayed flat. I'll give her the nod over (1) GOUDAWON, who shaded her last week and shoots for the threepeat. (6) DEWITT FOR JOSIE could get more aggressive this week now that she got a clean line in. She has upset potential tonight. (7) FADE OUT made a big uncovered move that she couldn't sustain last week. She should be in the exotics mix tonight.

Race 4: Pop-Up series F&M that have started for a purse of $10,000 or less in 1 of L4 AE: 1st Leg Starters - Pick 4

(2) DARKRSHADEOFPALE N isn't known for stacking wins but she just beat a salty field of males now she is in a mares restricted race and back to a 7-day rotation; call to repeat. (4) RANDOMIROGEO paced a big mile on the rim last week and Macdonald takes the return drive here; using. (6) CANTSTOPTHEFEELIN was moving well at the wire last week after closing off excess cover; price look. (9) BIG DIAMOND fought off a third 1/4 challenger last week and she will likely offer a better price starting from a wide draw tonight if you still like her.

Race 5: Pop-Up series F&M that have started for a purse of $10,000 or less in 1 of L4 AE: 1st Leg Starters

(2) DAY TO PARTY produced a much-improved effort last week but she couldn't get past a resilient leader. I'll give her the nod based on her improving form. (5) ITTY BITTY is on a roll for Auciello and she is the obvious one to beat as she seeks a threepeat. (6) TUGGINONCREDIT is another one that is improving and she has done well here before with Henry in the bike. I could see her tripping out in the pocket tonight; using. (7) MIA CULPA likely closes for another small share tonight.

Race 6: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES GOLD Leg 1 2YO Fillies - Pick 5

(5) BIG BIG PLANS left for position, sat, then rallied for 3rd as the pace accelerated in a good debut effort. I think Henry gets more aggressive with $101K on the line tonight; top call. $24,000 London Selected Sale buy (2) VIRTUAL KISS dropped six seconds in her June 16th qualifier and she looks well primed for a good debut effort here; using. (3) BIRDIE THREE almost pulled off a 50 to 1 shocker on debut and she should get another good trip from her inside post and land in the exotics. (1) BRYNLEY SEELSTER got things all her own way as the 1 to 5 chalk in her debut but she couldn't seal the deal. Her price will climb now if you are sticking with her.

Race 7: Pop-Up series F&M that have started for a purse of $10,000 or less in 1 of L4 AE: 1st Leg Starters - Pick 4

(9) BEST HONEY HANOVER probably beat a better field than this one when she won here three starts back and she comes in off a nice win in Ottawa. I expect Henry aggression from the start here. (2) SOCIETY JILL tried a middle move to the front last time but she was rebuffed by the leader who continued on to win. If she can replicate that move except clear to the front this time, she could win this week. (1) STONEBRIDGE DRAMA is sharp but I don't love the rail post for her. I'll use her underneath. (3) PERFECT ROMI should be good for another slice in this spot.

Race 8: F&M 5YO and Younger NW4 or $40,000 LT AE: 4YO to be claimed for $25,000

(7) BALANCE made to moves to win last time after dropping out of Gold company and she gets the call to repeat vs. these. (4) GOT THE GOLD hasn't missed the Exacta yet and she is razor sharp. She's the obvious threat. (1) FREE TO BE ME drops out of Grand Circuit company and she is another that should be heard from in what shapes up to be a good race. (2) GOT SEXY SCARS should sit another trip and land in the Tri or Super.

Race 9: F&M NW $10,000 L5 or $25,000 L10 or Starters for a purse of $15K or less L4 AE: Ont. Sired 3YO and 4YO who are NW7 LT

(5) SPEAKER NANCY is a razor-sharp sophomore that should double up in this spot; top call. (2) MAJESTIC VIRGIN gets post relief tonight and that should lead to a better trip racing near the front; Exacta factor. (4) BETTER BE DONNA N dropped and popped as expected last week but she steps back up here and she likely takes a slice this time. (9) DREAM DANCING gets Roy back after getting an adventurous trip last week; consider for the bottom of the exotics at a price.

Race 10: CLM HDCP $15,000 to $20,000

(7) CENTURY GIGALO won on the driver change to McNair and he sticks with him here when he had other choices; call to repeat. (8) BETTOR NOTBITTER A was first up against the choice when claimed by Auciello. He can improve racing out of the leading barn; using. (10) PRIVATE SCOTT made an eye-catching move to win at Georgian Downs last Sunday. He is sharp and worth a look at a price tonight. (6) PETER POOLE is one of three racing off the claim here. His speed should help him get a share. (5) PERPETUAL ROCK failed to convert at a short price in two straight. I'll use him underneath tonight.
