Race 1: Two Year Old Fillies **GTD $75,000 Pick 5**
So many ways you can go in this first two-year-old race of the year. I'll side with $70,000 Lexington sale buy (2) BET ON BECKY, who easily paced a 55 3/5 back 1/2 while jogging in her qualifier. (10) BEST HEAD WEST goes for top connections and she should be heard from here. (1) AMINI was lights out in her lone qualifier; another option for this Pick 5. (4) BETCHULOVEME’s 26 1/5 kicker on June 19th makes her another that I'll use in this Pick 5.
Race 2: Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots 3YO Fillies
(6) MACH MY KISS qualified well finishing behind last year's top two-year-old pacing filly. A good Grassroots performer at two, she gets top call here. (1) BETTORTHENBOBBI travels west with a perfect resume for 2020 having won three straight in the Maritimes. She can drop several seconds on the big track and she's on my Pick 5 ticket. (8) IN THE NEWS has been sharp at Grand River and she gets a catch-driver here; using underneath. (3) TRAFALGAR failed as chalk but that was a fast race and she could last longer here. Consider for the bottom of Tris and Supers.
Race 3: NW3 (F&M6) or $40,000 (F&M $50,000)
(2) NYLANDER trotted a winning race last week, kicking home in 27 1/5, but he was passed late by last year's Grassroots champion who was simply too good. He remains a viable contender here. (6) VILLEFRANCHE AS was close at this level two starts back and she should be right there again. (7) WHOSE BLUES is tricky here because she will get bet but has obvious much bigger goals this summer. I wouldn't take a short price. (1) WARRAWEE VICKY has a similar profile in that she will be in OSS Gold races soon; your call.
Race 4: Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots 3YO Fillies-Pick 4
(2) LANDRY SEELSTER's two tighteners should have her perfectly primed for this first Grassroots start of the year and she fits well here; top call. (5) LYONS TILT HANOVER made a nice wide move on the final turn last week which should also have her ready for a top effort here; using (1) MIA CULPA flew late to beat maidens but this is a tougher spot; using underneath. (7) P L NOTORIOUS can pass a few of these late and take a slice.
Race 5: NW5 or $97,000 LT
This race appears to shape up as a battle between (1) BEACH BLANKET BOOK and (4) PRICELESS BEACH who both come into this race razor-sharp. Slight nod to the latter who can win leading or following. (2) WINDSUN RICKY is well situated to get a good trip here and he may get produced in deep stretch by McClure and roll by. (6) HP NAPOLEON doesn't have to chase Tattoo Artist here. He could do if there is some mid race battling.
Race 6: Two Year Olds - Pick 5
(1) VINO LOUIE impressed in both qualifiers and he gets a slight nod in a race where there are several options. (5) TWIN B HEART THROB also looked sharp in his qualifiers and this $20,000 London Select Sale purchase looks ready to roll; using. (4) MAGNUM MOON was unstressed when he rolled by late in his June 20th qualifier; another Pick 5 option. (2) MAJOR BEAN was picked off in the fastest 1/4 of the race and he should be in the mix also.
Race 7: Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots 3YO Fillies
(8) MARY KAT simply looks fastest here and the OSS is where her barn excels every year. She should be tough to beat. (7) ODDS ON VERO BEACH gets her nose back on the gate and she brings two races of valuable experience with her to her first stakes try. She could trip out in the choice's pocket if they both blast off the gate as expected; using. (2) ADMITYOUREWRONG comes off a solid try and she should trip out here to take a share. (6) MS BRAMPTON BEAST was game winning at Georgian but I see her as a fringe player in here.
Race 8: F&M NW $16,000 L5 or $28,000 L10 or NW $110,000 LT AE: OPT CLM $35,000 - Pick 4
(1) LOVELY DONNA just took a new life's mark after setting some hot fractions and holding on. She has options here starting from the inside and a threepeat looms. (2) COUSIN MARY is also sharp and she fits this class well; the main danger. (8) ROLL WITH SPARKY rolled up late last week but she couldn't catch the choice. She is at a post disadvantage here and I'll use her on the bottom. (3) BETCHA BABY should be passing horses late and she should be part of the Tri or Super.
Race 9: Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots 3YO Fillies
(7) KIT was picked off only very late by a heavy chalk last week and that race should be a good springboard to this Grassroots even. She gets the nod. (4) NEED UR OPINION has had some excuses for recent failures and I expect her to get put into this race much earlier than what has been typical and I'll use her on multi-race tickets. (1) POTO HANOVER and (2) COQUI COQUI are both capable of sitting trips and re-emerging to take shares.
Race 10: F&M NW $10,000 L5 or $20,000 L10 AE: OPT CLM $25,000
(4) HELLO LOVE took a shuffle chasing the speedy Lovely Donna last week and the trip didn't work out. She rates highly vs. these and gets top billing. (10) CATCH AN ACE was right there last time she raced in this class but I wouldn't take a short price from post 10. (7) PREMIER CABERNET is worth a look on the barn change; using. (1) SUNDAY AFTERNOON should get positioned near the front early and that puts her in the exotics mix.
Race 11: F&M NW $7,900 L5 or $16,000 L10 AE: OPT CLM $18,000
(5) OUTLAW IMAHOTVIXEN wasn’t far back at huge odds against better and she gets a good post to work from here; slight nod. (7) CRACKLIN ROSIE doesn't have to chase Lovely Donna this week so she could get a much better trip racing on or near the front. (4) MANHATTAN NIGHT closed mildly on the streaking Saskatoon and she should enter contention here. (6) OUTLAW FIREBALL raced better when dropped to a similar level last time but her rivals may be too tough here; using underneath. (1) PRETTY HOT should be able to grab a share racing at this reduced classification.
