Woodbine Mohawk Park: Analysis for Friday 6/19

Garnet Barnsdale|Jun 17, 2020
Mohawk Logo 1.5

Meet Stats: 30-93: $195.40 (+ $9.40)
Best Bets: 4-9: $14.10 (- $3.90)
Spot Plays: 4-9: $25.30 (+ $7.30)
Best Bet:
FREE FLYIN TICKET (1ST)
Spot Play: PREEMINENCE (8TH)
Early Pick 5: 4/2,3/1,3,4,9/6,8,9/1,3,5 = $14.40
Late Pick 5: 10/1,3,4/2,6,8/7,8/2,7,8 = $10.80
Early Pick 4: 6,8,9/1,3,5/10/1,3,4 = $27
Late Pick 4: 2,6,8/7,8/2,7,8/1,4,9 = $54

Race 1: F&M 4YO and Younger NW2 or $15,000 LT **GTD $75,000 Pick 5**

(4) FREE FLYIN TICKET closed from a very tough spot last week as she had to start circling rivals early on the final turn which cost her valuable ground. She can make amends here. (6) KIT goes for a hot barn and she should be better with a start under her belt; Exacta factor. (2) BOTTLE OF RED is always in the mix and tonight should be no different, but I prefer to use her underneath. (8) LAILA BLUE figures to get a quick start and she can hang around for a share.

Race 2: NW3 (F&M5) or $45,000 (F&M $50,000)

(2) PORT PERRY kind of lays over these and he likely completes a chalky double to kick off the card. (3) H P BRUXELLES took advantage of the inside lane being open in the stretch last time and trotted away from her rivals. She goes for a barn that is as hot as can be and she's the logical alternative to the choice. (8) CHARMBO PRINCE comes to play every race and he should get a good piece of this despite starting from the widest post. (5) ARCANUM should pass a few of these late and he could complete the Tri or Super.

Race 3: 3YO Fillies NW1 or $7,000 LT

(1) BIG MYRTLE looked sharp at the end of her debut mile last week and she has a great chance in here to graduate at second asking. (9) REGIL ELECTRON has already had two starts back and she was decent in both. She is in with a shot here. (4) LUCK B MINE is a full sister to a filly that won early and trainer Brethour has been known to pop with this kind. I'll use her at a price. (3) WATCHFUL EYE disappointed as the heavy chalk but that doesn't mean she couldn’t bounce back here with a better effort.

Race 4: NW $6,600 L5 or $13,000 L10 AE: OPT CLM $20,000 – Pick 4

Tough race with so many having broke stride in their last starts. I’ll side with (9) O NARUTAC PERFETTO who stayed flat and drops in class. Post 9 will help keep his price viable. (6) MEADOWBRANCH MEMO is another class dropper that rates highly in this field; using. (8) NOTHING BUT MUSCLE gets Drury back and that should mean a more aggressive steer is coming. He's on my multi-race tickets. (4) H P TITANIA RUNNER should contend if she stays trotting this time, but I'll use her underneath.

Race 5: F&M 5YO and Younger NW3 or $55,000 LT

(1) BETALADY gets her nose on the gate this week and she figures to get a setup for her late kick; slight nod. (5) PERFECT STORM came ready for action and she's hard to leave off multi-race tickets but her trip up front may be a bit tougher this time. (3) OFF THE PRESS appears to be sitting on a big race and she could be rolling late here; another price option. (9) LAURAS LOVE will be flying late as always but it appears as though she will be looking to pass them all which will likely be a tall order here.

Race 6: F&M NW $18,000 L5 or $28,000 L10 or NW $170,000 LT AE: OPT CLM $35,000 – Pick 5

(10) SHOWER PLAY was relentless racing on the rim uncovered last week and she fell just short. This could be the spot where she gets a pace battle in front of her and that's when she is at her best. (4) MAJOR LEAGUE N bravely fought off the choice and she is likely the one to chase down again. (7) RECLAMATION put down some swift fractions and just failed to last. She may be the fly in Major League's ointment here. (5) BETTER BE DONNA tripped out to win but she still paced 1:50 1/5. She is capable here with the right trip.

Race 7: NW3 (F&M5) or $45,000 (F&M $50,000) LT

(3) NYLANDER followed up on a nice qualifying effort with a big win and his 27 1/5 kicker sticks out; call to repeat despite facing tougher. (4) LOVEDBYTHEMASSES did little wrong last year and judging by his June 9th qualifier, he is faster this year; using. (1) WINE RACK HANOVER should go better in this second start and she’s certainly not out of this. (6) KUIL DEVA has come back razor-sharp and she should be in the mix here again, but I'll use her underneath vs. these.

Race 8: F&M 4YO and Younger NW2 or $25,000 LT

(2) PREEMINENCE was on my watch list following her May 29th qualifier and her first start from the 7-hole was decent. Filion takes the return drive and she moves inside. I'll stick with her. (6) SEX APPEAL was picked off late, but she remains a viable contender in this spot; using. (8) WIGGLE DELIGHT is worth a look here on the barn change. (9) NEED UR OPINION is sharp but she draws poorly; using on the bottom.

Race 9: F&M PREFERRED HANDICAP

The key to (8) SO MUCH MORE's win last week was beating a few mares off the gate to land in mid-pack early. If she can land in a similar spot early here, she will be tough to beat. (7) BOADICEA will be winging again on the lead and she is the one to catch and beat. (5) KENDALL SEELSTER was flying late, but she had been covered up the entire mile to that point. I’ll use her underneath. (4) SUNNY DEE should go better here starting from a better post. She has upset potential in this spot.

Race 10: F&M Who Started for $8,000 Clm or Less in One of Last 4 Starts

(7) MISS ROCKADALI made several moves only to be picked off late by a relentless (8) LARJON LEGACY. I'll use both again in late multi-race tickets. (2) LIVELY ROCKET was absolutely flying late on the far outside of the track, but she showed little in the opening 3/4 of the mile. She is a contender, but likely to get over bet off that one late burst. (1) YNOTHOS was used hard and understandably tired late. She could trip out this time leaving from the rail; consider for late Pick 4 and Pick 5 bets.

Race 11: F&M NW $6,000 L5 or $13,000 L10 AE: OPT CLM $18,000

Take your pick from the hot Team Cullen barn. I'll side with (1) FILLY FORTY SEVEN who fits well here and gets post advantage on stablemate (9) MISS MADY who comes back fast after wiring the field here on Tuesday night. (4) NAUGHTY LADY B drops after getting two starts in vs. better and she is a contender here, but likely to get overbet. (2) KAYS SHADOW drops to a level where she is typically more competitive, and she should take a slice here. (6) WHISTYS PARADISE is another class dropper who merits a look in a contentious race with several possibilities.
