Top Pick Stats: 255/735 = -$78 Best Bets: 18/68 = –$10.60; Spot Plays: 19/68 = +2.40 Best Bet: LAINEY BLU (RACE 3) Spot Play: JOB HUNTER (RACE 10) Early Pick 5: 1,4,5/1,2,5/1/4,6/2,6 = $7.20 Late pick 5: 1,2,3,6/3,5,8/5/2,4,7/2 = $7.20 Race 1: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) OR $8,500 LIFETIME. (5) THE WRITER is coming off a dominant score in his seasonal debut at Western Fair, where he appeared to have a lot more left. This is a four-year-old who has just two lifetime starts (winning both of them), and he looks primed for a competitive effort on the big track this evening. (4) SHADOW OF AN ANGEL is coming off a trio of 2nd place finishes. He made his way to the front in his last two defeats where he got picked off late. He will take support in this spot and should be right there at the finish. (1) BACKUP PLAN is making his career debut off a pair of qualifying efforts. His most recent prep came on May 16 in a winning effort, where he was pacing find for driver Louis-Philippe Roy. He’s now racing out of the Dave Menary barn and without that much time in between preps, is one to monitor going into this evening. (9) D A SUPER GLO was third over turning for home, and finished up nicely to be 4th in that try. He was moving well and was gaining on rivals that was chasing, and can build off that effort this evening. Outside draw will have him poised for a share. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: FILLIES & MARES, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 RACES OR $30,000 (OS $37,500) LIFETIME. (5) MY HAPPY PLACE ships in from tries out East and will return to Mohawk Park where she’s competed successfully in the past. She is coming into this having won 2 out of her last 3 tries and is coming off a 4th place qualifying effort in preparation for this outing. She draws well and is one I expect to be aggressively handled in this spot; top call. (2) MYMOMSANACE is coming off a gate to wire score at Flamboro in her latest. This three-year-old daughter of Big Jim loves to do her work on the engine and is one that will likely be aggressively handled in this spot yet again; contender. (1) PRESCELTO was very unlikely in her latest try when she had some rivals take her out of the race. She still showed some good movement up the inside and is one I view as a sneaky player this evening; I’ll use her in multis. (7) DUCHESS DEO was a non-factor in her latest try but is one that will have every opportunity to hit the ticket in this spot. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Mohawk Park card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES: NW 1 RACE OR $8,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. (1) LAINEY BLU got away towards the back of the pack in her baby race but she flashed good speed late in the mile to be 4th. She has to draw the pole position in her debut but I’m hoping she’s close enough where she can flaunt that late kick and come away with a victory in her career debut. I’ll give her top honors here. (7) A BETS A BET was moving well late in the mile to be 2nd in that contest. She flashed good speed and was under no urging by driver Scott Young and appeared to show interest even after the wire. She’s a threat if she can get a right set up here. (4) ALL STAR LADY angled out late in the stretch to get up to be a good, 2nd place finisher in the qualifier, finishing ahead of the one above. She draws well and could be ready at first asking here. (6) BRISK SEELSTER finished 3rd in her morning prep and flashed some okay speed in that effort. She draws well and could be aggressively handled in this spot. Race 4: FILLIES & MARES, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 3 RACES OR $91,000 LIFETIME. (6) AARDIES MONEY N made a miscue off the gate in her most recent try, after notching consecutive victories in her two starts prior. She draws much better here this evening, and is one I’ll slate as a bounce back candidate. I’ll give her top honors here. (4) OH A LEGEND is coming off a winning qualifier, where she converted off a perfect set up. She has the talent to get the job done in this group, but fitness might be a bit of a question mark, given the missed time and just one prep. She may, or may not need one more, but she can get a big piece with a trip. (2) WICKED N SINGLE was a solid 4th in her most recent try. She was moving well at the end of her mile and is one that could capitalize late in the mile if she’s close. (5) MISS DUTTON will make her first start for new trainer Meg Crone, and will come into this contest having not raced in over one month. She draws a great post but is one to likely monitor for next time. Race 5: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) RACE OR $8,500 LIFETIME. (2) CALL YOU UP is coming off a 6th place effort at Grand River Raceway, where she was conservatively handled in that contest. She was coming off a good looking, qualifying score in preparation for that start, after making miscues in her two starts prior. She was on the lead in her most recent start here at Mohawk and looked like she had a good chance to hang on the rest of the mile, but put in steps past the half. She will be a major danger if she stays pacing throughout, and is one I’ll side with here this evening. (6) STONE SAWYER was conservatively handled in her latest after making a pair of breaks in her starts prior. She paced home nicely in a 6th place effort and is one that we could see being aggressively handled in this spot, especially with a center of the gate draw. (1) MY GELATO is coming off a dominant, maiden breaking score at Georgian Downs. She should be coming into this start brimming with confidence, and is one that can continue to build off an effort like that. (8) PARKAVENUEJANET will be making her career debut off a lone qualifier that resulted in a 4th place effort on May 16. She was moving well on the end of it but is one that I will have to take a wait and see approach given the time in between, and is one I’ll monitor for next week. Race 6: POP UP SERIES: HORSES & GELDINGS CLAIMING $20,000 FOR NW $60,000 (OS $75,000) LIFETIME. (1) STARS TREASURE hasn’t hit the board in six straight tries. He will pick up the services of Tyler Borth this evening and is one I’ll give a nod to, hoping he can pick off rivals late; he’ll have speed to chase. (2) LIL SEBASTIAN made multiple moves in a winning effort last time out. He draws the inside and should be tough if he can replicate a similar effort. (6) SPORTY BEE wasn’t much of a factor last time out in a 6th place effort. We could see this one be aggressively handled off the switch in this spot tonight, and that’ll make him a contender as a result; using.  (3) RUSTYS BETT has nabbed the show spot in back to back tries. He draws inside and he should be able to be right there once again. Race 7: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 (FM 4) RACES OR $20,000 (OS $36,500) LIFETIME. (8) GOT SEXY SCARS ships in from The Meadowlands off a sneaky good, 5th place try. She had lots of pace in behind rivals and comes into this effort sharp. She will step up in class but took on some sharp mares in her most recent start, and there should be enough speed in this contest where she could take advantage late. I’ll give her the nod in a wide open race. (5) COZ IM SPECIAL couldn’t gain a position after being unable to out sprint rivals in front of her. She draws well and should have every opportunity to work out a nice trip. She will likely be pointed forward and can work out a good trip in this spot. (3) STYLE FOR A MILE was never involved in her most recent and made a miscue late in the mile. She was a mare who used to prefer doing her best work on the engine but has shown an ability to pick off rivals late, and I assume that the trip she’ll be looking for here. (2) ALABAMA HANNAH has hung around to grab the show spot over her last three tries. She can do the same here. Race 8: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 RACES OR $30,000 (OS $37,500) LIFETIME. (5) SHES GOT IT ALL hasn’t been much of a factor throughout six starts this year, failing to hit the board in each of them. She draws the middle of the gate this evening and takes a further drop down in class. This might be what she needs to get back on track. I’ll side with her and hope the class is on display this evening. (4) CHIKABELL has hit the board in her last two tries and should have every opportunity to close for a share. She’ll have speed to chase here. (1) ROCKNROLL ANNIE was runner-up to a strong winner last time out. She draws the middle of the gate and should be pointed forward off the gate here. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 9: POP UP SERIES: HORSES & GELDINGS CLAIMING $20,000 FOR NW $60,000 (OS $75,000) LIFETIME. (2) VIS A VIS BLUECHIP just got picked off late in the mile in what was a good effort in his first start for new trainer, Kyle Fellows. He draws inside and will add Lasix in this contest, and he might be able to take another step forward because of it; top call. (4) ABOVEMYPAYGRADE failed to hit the board in his latest. He draws inside and might be able to get away in a better spot early, and will be a threat late in the mile; using (7) EASILY THE BEST converted off a good trip to score in his latest. He draws outside and will need to work out another similar trip to get a big piece. He has enough gate speed to be put in play, and will be interesting to see how he’s handed off the car.  (5) JIMMY WHISPERS has been a consistent on-the-board finisher. He has hit the ticket 13 times in 19 starts and should be right there again. Race 10: POP UP SERIES: FILLIES & MARES NW $30,000 IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). (2) JOB HUNTER is coming off a dominant score in her most recent try, after what was a locked in effort two starts back. She has been no worse than 3rd in three starts for new trainer Des Tackoor, and while this might be a step up in company in this Pop Up Series, she seems sharp enough to handle this transition. I’ll give her top honors. (7) A FEW CHOICE WORDS finds herself in a much more manageable spot this evening, after taking on tougher company over her last two tries. She will be the one to beat in this spot, and is one that merits plenty of respect. (9) MADRID A ships in from tries in the US and will now race in this Pop Up for new trainer Rick Zeron. She has failed to hit the board over her last two tries, but is capable of a good effort vs. this group when she’s at her best. (8) SAULSBROOK OLYMPIA rallied late to get up for a score at Grand River. She does her best work late in the mile and should appreciate working with a longer stretch. She’ll have speed to chase but will need to be within striking distance to get a big piece. (4) CHEESE PARTY is coming off a pair of lackluster efforts and is capable of grabbing a share; draws well.
