Top Pick Stats: 216/621 = -$52.40 Best Bets: 15/58 = –$12.20; Spot Plays: 17/58 = +$4.60 Best Bet:  ANGOSTURA HANOVER (RACE 12) Spot Play: FRENCH VODKA (RACE 8) Early Pick 5: 2,4,5,6/4/5/2,8/6,7 = $3.20 Late Pick 5: 4/8,9,10/5/7/1,3,5,9 = $2.40 Race 1: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 (FM 3) RACES OR $20,000 (OS $25,000) LIFETIME. (5) HP LUCAS is coming off a 2nd place effort at Flamboro Downs to a colt who has competed vs. Gold company. He will show up back to the big track and has a favorable draw to work with, and is one that should be able to work out a good trip here. I’ll give him top honors to kick off this card. (6) SOUTHWIND CASPIAN is coming off a maiden-breaking score in his latest. He draws well here and will likely be pointed forward off the gate, which will give him every opportunity in here. (4) GREEN MONSTER went on a speed mission in a 3rd place effort at Flamboro Downs in a Grassroots leg. He is back on the big track and might benefit from having a helmet to chase in this spot. There will be some speed to chase here. (2) STMIKES KERRYBLUES was sneaky good in his effort two starts back here at Woodbine Mohawk Park. He followed that up with a victory in a Prospect Leg at Kawartha Downs. He draws inside and can put forth a good showing here. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2:  5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) OR $8,500 LIFETIME. (4) SHADOW OF AN ANGEL got picked off by the pocket sitter after carving out some big time panels in a speed try last time out. That middle half was paced in sub-55 and it resulted in him getting tired late. This seems like a group he should have no issues breaking his maid against, and he’s my clear top choice. (6) CONNOR B will be making his sophomore debut off a pair of qualifiers. He was a strong winner in his latest, and can grab the place spot in his 3YO debut here. (1) NOVA BLU has hit the board in 3 of his 6 tries this year. He draws the pole position and should have every opportunity to hit the ticket. (3) ALL TIME ROCK was aggressively handled and stuck around to grab a piece; he can do the same in this spot. Race 3: POP UP SERIES: HORSES & GELDINGS CLAIMING $20,000 FOR NW $60,000 (OS $75,000) LIFETIME. (5) BRUDON was aggressively handled last time out and tired to be 3rd. He draws well again and picks up a driver who has guided him to a victory in the past, and he should have every chance to put forth a bounce back effort here. (6) RUSTYS BETT left out aggressively in his latest and finished 3rd. He has a great draw to work with and has proven to be competitive at this class; he merits respect and is a contender. (4) VIS A VIS BLUECHIP wasn’t much of a factor in his first start for trainer Shayne Barrington. He was claimed out of that contest and will now race for Kyle Fellows. He still provides some intrigue despite a lackluster try last time out. (8) WORLD REVIVAL flashed some good speed late in the mile and he should have a chance to hit the ticket late. Race 4: FILLIES & MARES, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) OR $8,500 LIFETIME. (2) ETERNAL DELIGHT took a bit of a shuffle in her latest, and flew home late to be a narrow 2nd. That was a really good effort in what was her first start over the big track, and she should be even better because of it this evening; top call. (8) SARA B DELIGHT took a shuffle in her seasonal debut and showed some good pace late when she shook loose. She should be even better with a start under her belt and is one that can compete in this group this evening; contender. (4) MARLENES LEGACY was aggressively handled in her latest and worked out a nice trip. She was just fair when she got clearance late but she was sitting behind some quick panels. She bottomed out her competition at Flamboro Downs two starts back in a dominant score, and we should see her deploying a similar approach this evening. (5) CATCH MY PASSION was one that I thought was good two starts back, but she made a miscue in her most recent. She can hit the ticket. Race 5: NW $3,000 LAST 5 STARTS (W/O $12,500 LAST 10 STARTS N/E). (7) BUCK DANCER rallied late to be 2nd in his latest. He has been racing from off the pace in his most recent tries, and with a new pilot in hand this evening, we could see him revert back to a more aggressive approach. He is sitting on a victory here. (6) DELICIOUSSTONE DK was forced to qualify after making consecutive breaks. He got around the track cleanly in a 5th place finish in his prep, and took on some talented rivals in that contest. He draws well, and this is one that merits respect in this field, so long as he can stay to task. (4) PESO HANOVER got picked off by the pocket sitter in his latest effort. He is winless in 11 tries this year and has worked out good trips throughout a handful of those starts. He should be right there at the finish, but is tough to trust as a win candidate right now. (3) HEAD OF THE CLASS was conservatively handled in his first start since January. He finished 4th in that effort after a winning qualifier which saw him being a bit of a runaway that morning. I’ll slot him in for a share this evening. Race 6: FILLIES & MARES, NW $9,000 LAST 5 STARTS OR NW $18,000 LAST 10 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $50,000. (4) TELLS ON A ROLL took back to last right off the gate after drawing pp10 in her latest. She wasn’t a factor at any point and finished up with some pace amongst horses. She should be even braver coming in, coupled with the fact she will take a further drop in class, and is hard to go against here. She’s the clear choice at what will be a low number. (1) SETTN A PRECEDENT comes out of the same race as the one above and was 7th in that contest. She’s capable of a good showing and she should have every chance to grab the place spot. (5) ALABAMA HANNAH worked out a nice trip and found clearance late in the mile. She was able to grab the show spot in that contest and will likely take advantage of her post position draw this evening. She can hit the ticket. (3) COZ IM SPECIAL came first over and was a game second, getting picked off by the rival who was on her back. She draws inside and should land somewhere on the ticket. Race 7:  FILLIES & MARES, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER NW $15,000 (ON SIRED $18,750) LIFETIME. (10) SIDE EFFECTS was all over the helmet of a rival who was beginning to gap. This filly was anxious to go and she put in steps as a result. She recovered and flew home to be 3rd in what was a great showing, and could’ve very likely been a winner had she stayed pacing throughout. She draws outside but she’s tough to pick against off that showing. (8) PRESECLTO was interfered with in her latest after being stuck behind the one above. When the choice jumped it off, so did this filly, taking her out of the race early. She finished nicely after recovering and is one that could step up and grab a good piece here. (9) OCEANSIDE MAGIC was able to pace home late and grab a share. She has to start outside but she should be even tighter this evening. She can close for a share despite an outside draw. (2) DG HOLI SHAMOLIE was a non factor in her latest after drawing outside. She draws a much more favorable post and is one that will have every chance to hit the ticket. Race 8: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 (FM 3) RACES OR $20,000 (OS $25,000) LIFETIME. (5) FRENCH VODKA was a narrow second in his latest after running out of racetrack in that effort. He made a miscue two starts prior but added trotting hopples ahead of his recent try and was able to stay to task. He should be more confident this evening and he’s my clear top choice here. (4) WILDTURKEY HANOVER was a runner up finisher to a rival I have pegged as a top choice in a Gold on Thursday. He draws well and is capable of a strong showing and is a main contender in this spot. (3) UNGAWA added trotting hopples in his latest and after consecutive breaks in his starts prior. He stayed trotting in a 5th place effort and can grab a share here. (7) FIRST CLASS RULE was a gate to wire winner in his latest at Flamboro. He draws outside but should be able to leave out and secure a share in this spot. Race 9: FILLIES & MARES, NW $6,000 LAST 5 STARTS OR NW $13,500 LAST 10 STARTS. (7) WESTERN WISH went on a speed mission in her latest and tired late. She will take a further drop down in class and will likely deploy similar tactics. She’ll be tough to catch. (6) FOREVER BETTOR rallied nicely late in the mile to be 3rd in that contest. She takes on tougher company but she would be a nice exacta player to the one above.  (3) CHICKABELL went a tough journey in her latest but still dug in to be 2nd. She draws well and can grab a big piece if the pace collapses. (1) ONE LAST BET is winless in 17 tries this year, but has hit the board in 4 straight. She’ll have every chance to do that here as well. Race 10: NW $6,000 LAST 5 STARTS (W/O $15,000 LAST 10 STARTS N/E) AE: OPT. CLM. $30,000. (9) MISTER MAGIC followed up a good effort two starts back with a victory in his latest. He draws outside but he’ll have every opportunity to double up in this spot. (1) EYES OF JUSTICE delivered as the choice in his latest. He starts from the pole position but should be able to work out a good trip and has double up potential as well. (5) RADIO LAB is coming off back-to-back, 3rd place efforts and should be able to close for a share, or even more in this spot. He’s a danger if he’s on his a-game. (3) COOL CLIFFORD finished 2nd the last time he was on the big track which was three starts ago. He draws inside and should push out of there and can grab a share. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 11: POP UP SERIES: HORSES & GELDINGS CLAIMING $20,000 FOR NW $60,000 (OS $75,000) LIFETIME. (2) STEELWHEEL HANOVER is coming off a poor showing in his latest, after reeling off three straight wins in his starts prior. He was claimed out of that contest by Shayne Barrington, and any time a rival enters his barn for the first time, they merit serious respect. He is a major bounce-back candidate. (4) ABOVEMYPAYGRADE closed late to get his picture taken in his latest. He draws well and should be able to work out another stalking trip. He is a danger because of that. (6) SPORTY BEE didn’t hit the board in his latest, in what was his first start in 3 weeks. He draws well and can grab a piece this evening. (5) LIL SEBASTIAN hasn’t hit the board in a few starts for new trainer Pam Forgie. He draws inside and can land somewhere on the ticket here. Race 12: FILLIES & MARES, NW $15,000 LAST 5 STARTS. AE: NW 5 RACES LIFETIME. (3) ANGOSTURA HANOVER is coming off a 4th place effort in her most recent try. She takes a drop out of Preferred company and is back at a level where she was a strong winner three starts back. She was airborne late and is one that will be a major threat, and I’m curious to see what tactics her pilots will deploy this evening. (2) SORCHA SEELSTER flashed good pace late in the mile in her most recent try. She had pace behind horses and is a serious threat tonight. Scott Young gets the call on a live one here. (10) COCO JO JO didn’t hit the board in her latest try in a Margaret Juravanski final. She has the ability of a good showing but she draws outside this evening, which will be a hindrance. (8) GLENBORO didn’t hit the board in her most recent try. She has just 1 win in 16 starts but has hit the board in 10 of them. (7) CANT SEE ME was a strong 2nd place finisher in her 3YO debut. She will take on a couple of class droppers this evening and it’ll be tougher for her in her second start as a sophomore. She can round out the Hi 5.
