Top Pick Stats: 115/384 = -$78.60 Best Bets: 12/38 = –$19.20; Spot Plays: 7/38 = -$10.70 Best Bet: COCO JO JO (Race 2) Spot Play: NICKEL AND DIME (Race 4) Early Pick 5: 2,5,6,8/5/4,6,7/1/2,6,8 = $7.20 Middle Pick 5: 1,3,4/8/5,8/3/3 = $1.20 Race 1: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 (FM 3) RACES OR $20,000 (OS $25,000) LIFETIME. (5) UNGAWA is coming off a measured win in his lifetime debut. He was wrapped up by driver/trainer Paul MacDonell as he crossed the wire, and will step up in this nw2 class. It might be a steep ask, but I know he’ll offer up value and I think he’s one who could come up with a good effort here. (2) MAMBO NUMBER SIX converted off a pocket trip in his latest to score. This 4YO gelded son of Six Pack has 2 wins in 3 tries this year and is one of the main threats to kick off the card.  (6) NASA comes off an even 4th place effort in what was his first start as a 3YO. He will now make his second start of the year for new trainer Stephen Bossence, and picks up Louis-Philippe Roy, who guided him to his maiden-breaking score as a rookie; using. (8) P L ROBERT G showed some good late trot in his latest in a 5th place effort. He draws outside but can get a big piece with the right trip. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: CANADIAN SIRED GRADUATE SERIES PACE: CANADIAN SIRED 4 YEAR OLD MARES. 1ST LEG. (5) COCO JO JO comes off a solid, 4th place effort in the Preferred, and will now take on her own age group in the opening leg of this Graduate Series. She hasn’t put forth a poor effort all season long and is one that I’ll give the nod to in race number two, in hopes she can out-position her biggest rival, (4) SORCHA SEELSTER, who uncorked a nice rally to be 3rd in her latest. She, too, is coming into this effort sharp, and is arguably the one to beat. (2) COLLUSION HANOVER didn’t hit the board in her first start of 2025 but finished up nicely. She should be well prepped coming into this start but is likely racing for a share. (3) RESILIENCE comes off a 2nd place qualifying effort in preparation for this series. She will likely hit the ticket but is up against it as a win candidate. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Mohawk Park card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: ONTARIO SIRED SPRING SERIES PACE: ONTARIO SIRED 3 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS, NW $30,000 IN 2024. NO ALLOWANCES. (4) TIME PASSER raced well in defeat in his first start as a 3YO. He cut the mile for most of it and got picked off by a pair of rivals late. This colt could benefit from having a helmet to chase, and is one I’ll go back to in start number two, in hopes of getting that kind of trip. (6) ASIAGO SEELSTER got away 3rd and never left the rail in that contest. He gapped on the final turn, but showed some good, late pace during the stretch. We know he’s capable of a good showing and he draws well enough to deploy early speed, which makes him a major threat. (7) MOOD CONTROL was a game, 2nd place finisher in his latest and lost out to a horse who converted off a pocket trip. He has been no worse than 2nd in four starts since adding Lasix and merits respect. (3) BETTORSEETHESHOW is coming off a victory at odds of 11/1 in his latest. He worked out a two-hole trip behind his stable mate and was able to convert. He is capable of getting the job done in this spot but is one I won’t be using on multi race tickets. Race 4: ONTARIO SIRED SPRING SERIES TROT: ONTARIO SIRED 3 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS, NW $30,000 IN 2024. (1) NICKEL AND DIME comes off a solid, 4th place effort in his 3YO debut. This gelded son of Resolve showed good, late trot in amongst rivals and had trainer Matt Bax in the bike for that showing. He hands the lines over to leading reinsman, James MacDonald, and is one that should be sitting on a strong effort this evening; top call. (7) FLEETWOOD MAC is coming off a pair of strong qualifiers as he gears up for his 2025 debut. He closed willingly in the first one to be a narrow 2nd, then was under tight lines in a gate-to-wire effort in his 2nd prep. He was drifting out a bit in the stretch but still was trotting strong throughout the wire. He was winless as a rookie but is one that can get the job done at first asking as a sophomore if handled aggressively in this spot. (3) P L SPENCER raced without trotting hopples in his sophomore debut and stayed to task in a gate to wire score. He has shown ability to put forth good efforts when he isn’t making miscues and is one that is capable of doubling up under the right circumstances. He will pick up Louis-Philippe Roy this evening and will almost certainly be the one that everyone will be chasing. (2) MODELO GOLD is winless in 4 tries this year but has hit the board in each start. HE can close for a piece. Race 5: FILLIES & MARES, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) OR $8,500 LIFETIME. (6) YS FLOWERNUMBERTEN got away towards the back of the back in her latest but rallied very nicely to secure the place spot. It was a much improved effort in comparison to her first two starts of 2025, and she should have every opportunity to take another step forward here. I’ll give her the nod to break her maiden. (2) KOBRA KATE went an adventurous journey in her lifetime debut, having never seen a set of pylons in that outing. She still paced home strongly throughout, despite some awful racing conditions and looks poised for a big effort this evening. (8) MAI TIDE is coming off a dominant score at Flamboro to notch her first victory of her career. She should be brimming with confidence and will likely be pointed forward in this outing, and could prove tough to catch; using. (5) GOOSEBERRY rounded out the super in her 2025 debut. I don’t view her as a win candidate whatsoever but she is one that should have every chance to land on the ticket. Race 6: CANADIAN SIRED GRADUATE SERIES TROT: CANADIAN SIRED 4 YEAR OLDS. 1ST LEG. (1) WILLYS HOME RUN will be making her 4YO debut in this Graduate Series and is coming off a pair of qualifiers in preparation for it. She looked strong cutting in on 4/1 and then trailed in a four-horse field where she angled out late in the stretch where she showed some good trot. She should be tight enough to go here at first asking and is one I’ll give the not to. (3) MYRETIREMENTDREAM comes off an okay 3rd place effort in his first start of 2025. He likely needed that start and should be tight enough to put forth a good effort here. (4) WILLOWTIME ships back to Canada after racing in the US for his new connections. He has been facing lower condition trotters and will be making a big step up in class for new trainer Dave Menary. He’s had success with this ownership group when they’ve sent horses to him, and is one that merits respect this evening because of it. (5) SID THE KID was a judges-scratch in his latest but was a narrow 2nd the last time he competed. He has hit the board in 6 of 8 tries this season and he’s likely going to be summoned off the wings of the gate, and will likely look to bottom out this group. Race 7: FILLIES & MARES, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 RACES OR $30,000 (OS $37,500) LIFETIME. (8) SPOILED BEAUTY cruised to an easy victory in her 3YO debut. She was eased off the gate but came first over and drew away from her rivals with ease. She draws outside but should have every opportunity to double up and will be top selection here. (4) MYMOMSANACE was aggressively handled off a strong qualifier and cruised to victory. She steps up in class off a confidence boosting score and will be given every opportunity to double up; she’ll be the one to chase down. (3) DG HOLI SHAMOLIE worked out a nice, 3rd-over trip in her latest but didn’t have enough to get to the choice. She is dangerous under the right trip scenario and she should have some speed to chase here, making her a threat. (5) CENTURY LUNAR hasn’t hit the board in both of her starts in 2025. She came into this year off a nice qualifying prep, but followed up a solid debut with a bit of a lackluster effort. She is capable of good effort but I’ll slow her in for a piece. Race 8: FILLIES & MARES, NW $2,500 LAST 5 OR NW $11,875 LAST 10 STARTS. (5) CHEESE PARTY uncorked a strong, late rally after finding clearance late in the stretch. She just missed at a big number and was our top selection last week. She draws much better this week, and is one I’ll go back to, but we understand the value will be much lower. (8) CHIKABELL delivered as the overwhelming choice the hard way, scoring in first-over fashion. It was her first start for new trainer Amanda Riley and she will be the one to beat in this spot, off that effort. (3) ONE LAST BET was aggressively handled in her latest but faced constant pressure throughout and tired to 4th. She is winless in 12 tries this year but has been knocking on the door as of late. (6) BETTER BE DONNA N grabbed the show spot in her latest. She draws well and will be aggressively handled from this spot and can land on the ticket. Race 9: FILLIES & MARES PREFERRED. (3) CENTURY JAMILA has won 5 starts in a row and is undoubtedly the one to beat in this spot. She went off as the 2nd choice in her latest despite being razor sharp but will almost definitely go off as the chalk in here, as a sixpeat looms. (4) BLUE PACIFIC looked like a mare who was going to dominate the Preferred class but she has been overtaken by her stablemate as of late. She is capable of a strong showing but is simply 2nd best to the one above, currently. (5) LYONS BETTORDAY went off as the 2nd choice in her latest but never left the pylons. Driver James MacDonald had a choice to come first up but elected to sit in along the inside and this mare never saw daylight again. She appeared loaded with pace in amongst rivals and should be brave coming in, but is up against the top two right now. (7) GLENBORO didn’t have much to offer in her latest when she angled off the cones and couldn’t advance. She was a 3rd place finisher at this level two starts back and can grab a piece. Race 10: CANADIAN SIRED GRADUATE SERIES TROT: CANADIAN SIRED 4 YEAR OLDS. 1ST LEG. (3) PAQUET will make his 4YO debut off a pair of qualifiers after what was a strong 3YO campaign. He is undoubtedly the one to beat here and will be tough to take down in this spot. (2) R PEAKY BLINDERS raced well in his latest despite missing the board. He trotted well in the lane and is coming into this sharp, but will be racing for place this evening. (5) WHAT ABOUT ELMO will also be making his first start as a 4YO and is coming off a pair of qualifying efforts in Florida. He can grab a piece. (1) GRAMBLING HALL is coming off a pair of 3rd place efforts in his qualifying preps and will have every opportunity to land on the ticket in this field of five. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 11: ONTARIO SIRED SPRING SERIES TROT: ONTARIO SIRED 3 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS, NW $30,000 IN 2024. (4) MANFORCE is coming off a 3rd place effort in his sophomore debut. He got away 4th off the car and had too much ground to make up when the space setter got a soft middle-half to work with in his favor. He still trotted a final quarter in sub-28 seconds and is one that should be good to go in start number two. He is winless in eight career starts but this is as good as an opportunity to break his maiden. (6) FLANAGAN SUNSHINE worked out a pocket trip in his latest and couldn’t get to the pace setter. He has been no worse than 2nd over his last four starts and is one of the main threat this evening. He gets a driver switch to Phil Hudon, who guided him during his rookie campaign. (5) FAST SNAP was a gate to wire winner in his 2nd start of his career. He can double up in this spot but won’t get as favorable a trip as he did in his most recent. Race 12: CLAIMING $20,000 FOR NW $60,000 (OS $75,000) LIFETIME. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE. (4) REDLAND WRANGLER got away 4th off the car and was stuck along the cones in that effort. Driver James MacDonald popped the plugs late in the stretch, but this gelding had no real estate to work with, and was under a tight line to him behind rivals as they crossed the wire. He’s winless in 12 starts but is a great value player to close out the card here this evening. (3) ON TIME DELIVERY has been no worse than 2nd over his last 6 starts. He draws well and is an obvious threat in this spot. (1) JIMMY WHISPERS has been no worse than 3rd over his last 5 tries. He will start from the rail and should be able to work out a more favorable trip. (5) TARQUINIS HANOVER has hit the board in 2 out of his last 3, which included a 92/1 score three starts back. He draws well and can put forth a great effort when at his best. (9) HOUSE EDGE HANOVER ships in from Flamboro and can hit the ticket here.
