She has been hampered with outside draws as of late but has been finishing up her miles well despite that. She reunites with Doug McNair here and I’ll give her top billing. (5) CHARMBRO STORMY wasn’t much of a factor in her latest when taking on tougher company. She draws well and will have every opportunity to get back on track. (7) CAUGHTSTEALINGHOME comes off a 5th place effort but has been racing very well as of late. She is handy and should be able to get a good spot off the gate and can grab a piece because of it. (6) THIS GIRL RULES exits tries at London and Flamboro where she’s hit the board in 4 of her last 6 starts. She draws well and should be able to stick around for a piece. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: FILLIES & MARES, 4 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER NW $15,000 (ON SIRED $18,750) LIFETIME. (6) WHISKEY BLUE CHIP was a non-factor when getting away towards the back of the pack, and finished up evenly to be 6th. She hadn’t raced in 3 weeks entering that contest and should benefit from being back on a regular rotation, and I expect her to be forwardly placed in this spot; top call. (2) WEST ALEXIS was a winner in her career debut but hasn’t raced since. It’s been over one month since we’ve last seen her and is one that is hard to put all your faith in off the stale date; using. (7) SUPERIOR DELIGHT never left the rail but was pacing well up the inside to secure the show spot. She might be more confidently handled in this spot and merits respect. (8) TH SANDRA DEE has been a winner in 2 of her last 4 tries and is one that is capable of working out a winning trip, but i’ll slot her underneath. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Mohawk Park card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: FILLIES & MARES, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) OR $8,500 LIFETIME. (8) CALCITE never had much of a chance off the gate in her latest but showed some interest late in her mile to grab a share. She has shown flashes of speed and hasn’t been able to put it all together just yet, but I’m hoping she’ll be able to do just that in here tonight; value. (5) DG HOLI SHAMOLIE was stuck behind non-advancing cover and tipped 3-wide and made steady gains in the lane to be a narrow 2nd. She just missed at odds of 95/1 and should be able to build off that effort. (1) JESS BRIGHT IDEA found a seam late in the stretch and was able to shoot through to finish 3rd. She finished up willingly and she could take a step forward and produce a winning effort off that try. (6) AMERICAN STARLIGHT has rounded out the superfecta in back-to-back tries and she will have every opportunity to hit the ticket again. Race 4:  5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) OR $8,500 LIFETIME.  (5) BEACHOFANERA was vying for early positioning and ended up getting parked for most of the mile. He draws better and there’s a good chance he takes this group from start to finish; top call. (3) COLD CREEK PANTERA comes off a 2nd-place effort in what was her best start of the season. He’s one I liked last week at a big number and while the price will be much shorter, he’ll have an opportunity at a maiden-breaking score. (7) ROCKY J took sneaky support last week in what was his first start of the year from pp10. He was moving okay in the late stages and will make his second start for new trainer Chris Rogers; he can improve. (8) PUFFS LAST SHADOW made an aggressive, first-over bid at the pace setter and finished 3rd after that confrontation. He’s hit the board in 3 of his last 4 tries and is one that merits respect in a wide-open race. Race 5: POP UP SERIES: FILLIES & MARES NW $30,000 IN 2024 (MIN 15 STARTS). (5) GRANNYS WATCHING wasn’t a factor in her latest but was off one month entering that contest. She draws well and will likely be aggressively handled here; she can hang around for a share. Race 6:  FILLIES & MARES, NW $4,000 LAST 5 STARTS OR NW $15,750 LAST 10 STARTS. (3) POWDER PLAY comes off a nice, 2nd-place effort where she cut into the leader’s lead but it was too late. It was the best effort she’s put forth over the last several weeks and she looks like she’s trending in the direction of a winning effort this evening. (1) BETTORNOTMACHME cruised to an easy victory at this level two starts back and is one that merits plenty of respect in here because of that. (2) WILDCAT STAR needed plenty of motivation in a hard-earned, 3rd-place effort. She is capable of a big effort at her best and can compete in this group.  (9) CHIKABELL came first over in her latest and wasn’t a factor whatsoever, fading to last. She draws outside and adds Lasix in this contest, and is one to monitor. Race 7:  CLAIMING $20,000 FOR NW $38,500 LIFETIME. (4) SMILES FOR MILES exits Pop-Up Series tries vs. a pair of sharp rivals. He has been finishing up his miles very well as of late and should appreciate the company he keeps in this spot. (6) LANESIDE SPORTSTAR finished up well late in the miles to grab the show spot. He has one good move in him and if timed right, he can grab a big piece. (8) ALWAYS B MELMAN has hit the board in his last two tries and he should have an opportunity to do so here. (2) CENTURY JAZZ has grabbed shares over his last few tries and he draws well enough where he can hang around for a share here.. Race 8:  5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 (FM 3) RACES OR $20,000 (OS $25,000) LIFETIME. (6) ROSETTA converted off a pocket trip in her latest in what was her second-start here in Canada. She draws well again and should be able to find another helmet to follow, in hopes of a winning-effort. (5) OH HILL NO has won back-to-back starts and did so convincingly in her latest. She will likely be the one doing the heavy lifting and will be the one to chase down. (9) LUVUTOTHEMOONANDBAK was aggressively handled in his latest and finished a narrow 3rd. He has to draw from the outside yet again but has proven he can get himself involved early, if need be. (3) MUSCLE BRANCH was 4th at this level last time out and is one that can grab another share at this level. Race 9: FILLIES & MARES PREFERRED. (3) BLUE PACIFIC has cruised to four-straight victories in dominant fashion. She hasn’t raced in four weeks by virtue of this class falling short and should be able to add to her win-streak here. (6) GLENBORO is coming off a very nice score and will have every chance to hit the ticket. (8) D A MAGIC MIKE showed good, late speed at the end of his mile to get up for a victory. He added Lasix in that contest which seemed to have helped. (3) GOING FAST hasn’t been much of a factor over his last few tries but should fit this group much better; draws well. (7) JIMMY WHISPERS followed up a winning performance with a 4th-place effort. He’s capable of hitting the ticket with the right trip. (9) ENFORCER hasn’t hit the board in 5 straight tries. He will race out of the barn of Carmen Auciello and is one to monitor.
