When he got around that one, he was stuck behind a wall of horses and shifted towards the inside where his lane might've been impeded late. He draws well and should be all systems go here. (2) ROYAL BELUGA missed out by a nose in his latest in what was a very good effort. He's a main contender here but his only issue is that he doesn't get away in good spots early, which can be to his detriment. (4) EYE OF AN EAGLE came with an aggressive, first-over brush and was repelled to finish fourth. He merits respect if in a striking spot turning for home. (3) ROSETTA ships in from a pair of tries in the U.S. and draws well; she can get a piece here. Race 2:  POP UP SERIES: HORSES & GELDINGS 4 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW $25,000 OR N/A $1,500 P/S IN 2024-25 (5) BOOTS was handled confidently and cruised to victory in his latest. He faces the same group tonight and I'm expecting another winning result here. (4) WHY WOULNDT YA got a clear lane up the inside late to try and gain on the one above and was simply second-best; he draws well and looks to be the biggest threat. (6) SMILES FOR MILES rallied late to be third and will have every opportunity to grab a big piece in a short field. (2) JULIUS HANOVER picked up his first win in 40+ starts and could be trending in the right direction; I like him for a share. Race 3 : FILLIES & MARES, NW $8,000 LAST 5 STARTS. AE: N/A $2,330 P/S IN 2024-25. (3) LYONS LEGEND wasn't able to get a seat early in the mile, and after she did, she was forced to come first-over immediately after that. It was a much tougher trip than she hoped for, but with an easier trip, she should be much sharper here. (4) SHOOT THE WHISKEY takes a drop in class here to a level where she should be competitive. She also has options where she's drawn on the gate. (5) FOX VALLEY TESSA hasn't hit the board at this level over her last two tries but is capable of a better effort than we've seen. She picks up James MacDonald, who might be able to secure a bigger piece here. (8) STONEBRIDGE HALO comes off back-to-back third-place efforts and should have every chance of hitting the ticket here. Race 4:  FILLIES & MARES, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) OR $8,500 LIFETIME. (2) CALCITE made a miscue off the gate and was out of of contention early. This filly paced a big middle-half in her debut and justifiably got tired. She seems like she has a big move in her that is good enough to get the job done; she has just to stay pacing. (7) KANDY KISS got picked off in her lifetime debut by a rival who was dropping in class, but was game in defeat. She should be activated early and will be given every chance here. (5) BETTOR BELLE showed some interest late in the mile in her most recent where she rallied to be fourth. She draws better and could be engaged sooner. (3) DG HOLI SHAMOLIE was a winner in her most recent at Flamboro and could improve her efforts on the big track with a confidence booster under her belt.   Race 5: FILLIES & MARES, NW $4,000 LAST 5 OR NW $12,500 LAST 10 STARTS (3) CHICKABELL got away towards the back of the pack and encountered road trouble when trying to make a late rally for a share. She couldn't find a clear lane until late and settled for eighth in an effort that was better than it appeared. This is MacDonald's choice over another rival and she gets top billing. (1) COZ IM SPECIAL never got involved in her latest in what was an even effort. She should be in a better spot earlier tonight and merits a lot of respect because of it. (6) SAULSBROOK OLYMPIA comes off a pair of third-place efforts at this level and will likely be closing late for a share this evening. (2) REDLANDBETHANYJEAN was never a factor in her most recent; she draws inside and should have every chance to hit the ticket this evening. Race 6:  FILLIES & MARES, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 3 RACES OR $75,950 LIFETIME. (5) SWIFT TALKER made nice gains in the lane and was moving well in a fourth-place effort. She draws the middle of the gate and can get better situated early here in a wide-open race. (7) MOTHER MARY got caught in a blindswitch late but found a clear lane up the inside and was even at best. She raced better than the start prior and could be on the improve here. (2) MISS DUTTON came first-up to clear the pace-setter and was game in fending off an array of rivals late; she can double up. (1) CAUGHTSTEALINGHOME is the sharpest rival in this wide-open affair and is among many win candidates in this group. ► Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter Race 7: FILLIES & MARES, NW $18,850 LAST 5 STARTS. (7) CENTURY JAMILA went on a gate-to-wire mission in victory but did get things her own way in the process. This mare is much better when she has a target to chase, and I'm banking on a favorable trip that'll do just that; top call to repeat. (9) GLENBORO was stuck behind the one above and lacked room up the pylons to sneak by. She's a trip-dependent mare who's handy enough to work out those trips from anywhere. She is in with a shot. (3) CAVIAR N CRACKERS was motoring late but could only round out the super; if the panels are quick enough up front, she should be able to pick them off late. (8) ANGOSTURA HANOVER slipped off the cones late and made her charge at our top choice only to be second; she's been a runner-up finisher in three straight and is very sharp. Race 8:  NW $2,500 LAST 5 STARTS (W/O $12,500 LAST 10 STARTS N/E). (6) BUCK DANCER was claimed out of his most recent contest and will now race for new trainer Kyle Fellows. He hails from the most favorable post and will be summoned off the wings early; he could prove tough to catch. (7) DOUBLE DIPPIN is one that I'm intrigued with in this spot as he debuts for new trainer Sara Baillargeon. I'll peg this one for underneath as I get a look. (9) MISTER MAGIC was able to go by our top choice in his most recent but was picked off by another rival; he's always a threat at this level. (1) VERACRUZ got a flat line under his belt and is capable of hitting the ticket. Race 9:  FILLIES & MARES, 4 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER NW $15,750 (ON SIRED $18,750) LIFETIME. (7) PRESCELTO finished a solid fourth in her latest off what was a good qualifier. She might be able to take a step forward here in what I view to be an open race. (4) TH SANDRA DEE was running in a bit in the lane but straightened out to score. She takes a step up here but had a confidence edge coming in; using. (1) COUNTRY DANCING never angled out in the qualifier until it was too late, but didn't appear to have much pop in the process; she can hit the ticket. (3) SUPERIOR DELIGHT was even in her qualifier as she enters this race; she can hit the ticket. Race 10: FILLIES & MARES, NW $2,975 LAST 5 STARTS (W/O $12,500 LAST 10 STARTS N/E). (5) NO MONEY HONEY rallied late to grab a share in her latest. She was stuck behind rivals two starts back and draws the middle of the gate where she should be able to show speed and work out a nice trip here. (7) TRIBAL DANCER just got picked off late in her most recent; she's razor-sharp and will likely be pointed forward again here. (2) CHOCOLATEFORLUNCH made her first start in a couple of weeks and faltered in that effort. She is better than what she showed and could be in store for a bounce back. (4) SAULSBROOK ABBEY will debut here in Ontario for trainer Kyle Fellows after a pair of even qualifiers. She's intriguing. Race 11  FILLIES & MARES, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 RACES OR $40,500  LIFETIME. (1) FOXY SEASIDE was very good in her most recent start when she tore off cover and had a lot left to offer; she should be tough to beat here. (6) JOB HUNTER is coming off back-to-back wins at Flamboro; she draws well and should have every chance at a big piece. (8) ABSOLUTION flashed a quick final quarter but couldn't muster a good share; she draws outside but should have every chance late, if close. (2) FOX VALLEY TATUM was third in her most recent and can close for a share. (7) ROSE COLORDGLASSES was aggressively handled in her latest and faltered. She can round out the Hi-5.
