Woodbine Mohawk Park: Analysis for Friday 12/5

John Rallis|Dec 03, 2025
Mohawk Logo 1.5

Top Pick Stats: 216/621 = -$52.40

Best Bets: 15/58 = –$12.20; Spot Plays: 17/58 = +$4.60

Best Bet: STYLE FOR A MILE (RACE 4)

Spot Play: HEAD OF THE CLASS (RACE 5)

Early Pick 5: 6/2,4/4,5,6,7,9/1/8

Late Pick 5: 1,3,4/2,7/1/5/4,6,9,10

Race 1: FILLIES & MARES, 4 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) OR $9,000 LIFETIME.

(6) MCJAZZ went on a front-end mission for the first time in her career. She nearly lasted on the lead but got picked off by the race favorite in that outing. We could see her aggressively handled yet again and I don’t see anyone with the ability to go by her in the late stages of the mile if a similar trip ensues. (2) FREIGHT TRAIN BABY will be making start number nine in her young career and is one that I think has progressively gotten better with her efforts on the big track. She should be able to work out a good trip in here and can pick up a big piece. (9) STEAL MY SUNSHINE is coming off a solid qualifying prep at WEG as she gears up for her first-ever, pari-mutuel start over the big track. She starts from outside and I’ll use her underneath. (5) SHURI will make her return to the big track after a few tries at London. She draws well and can land on the ticket.

Race 2: POP UP SERIES: STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $10,000 OR LESS IN L3 STARTS AND NW $50,000 IN 2025.

(4) KEVIN ANTHONY rebounded after a tough trip two starts back, and found his way to the winner’s circle in his latest. He was reunited with Trevor Henry who has guided this trotter to good efforts in the past, and is one that I’ll side with to double up in this spot. (2) JOHNNY BUCKSHOT was the easiest winner last time out and is undoubtedly the one to beat. He is one that merits respect but faces a tougher group than last week, in my opinion. (6) DONATOVER got away in a good spot and was able to secure the show spot. He draws well and can stick around for a good piece. (3) CABALLERO made a miscue last time out. He’s tough to trust but can pick up a good piece if he behaves.

Race 3: NW $2,500 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $7,000 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $20,000.

(4) MARKET BANKER was aggressively handled in his most recent and tired to be 3rd. It was the first time he was put on the point in quite some time and he should benefit from a trip like that. He draws well and I’ll side with him in what appears to be a wide open race. (6) FLIRTY DANCER couldn’t work out a good and was fair in a 5th place effort. She draws well again and might benefit from an easier trip; contender. (7) CRYSTAL BALLER drops in class after not being involved vs. tougher over his last few. This is a better spot and he’s a threat by virtue of that. (9) EDEN ONTHEHILL isn’t in the sharpest of form and will look to find a bit of confidence in a softer spot. He starts from the outside but has enough early speed to overcome it.

Race 4: FILLIES & MARES, NW $9,500 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $21,000 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $50,000.

(1) STYLE FOR A MILE takes a drop in class after a solid effort in the F&M Open in her latest. She picks up Louis-Philippe Roy this evening and this will be a great opportunity to pick up win #1 for her new connections. (2) ANGOSTURA HANOVER has been racing well as of late but is struggling to get to the line first. This will be start #43 for her and is one that will be a main player underneath. (6) SHES GOT IT ALL left out aggressively in her most recent and was able to score in gate-to-wire fashion. She is sharp, draws well again, and will likely be pointed off the car yet again, making her a threat. (5) SORCHA SEELSTER is coming off a strong, 2nd-place finish. Loves to do her best work late and is one that should be able to close and land somewhere on the ticket.

Race 5: NW $1,000 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $3,250 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: N/A $940 P/S IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). AE: OPT. CLM. $12,500.

(8) HEAD OF THE CLASS made a miscue off the car in his most recent outing and recovered to be 4th. He qualified cleanly on November 29 in what was a comfortable score and will be a main factor so long he trots; top call. (4) FABULOUS FREDDIE rallied to be a strong 3rd in his latest. He draws well yet again and is one that should be a factor in here, though he is unreliable as a win candidate. (2) WALKONTHEMOON returned to the Amanda Riley barn and cruised to a victory at Flamboro in his most recent. He added the trotting hopples back in that outing and should be brimming with confidence here. He’s in with a chance. (10) VILLEFRANCHE AS takes a further dip in class after being a non-factor in her most recent. She picks up James MacDonald and can be a factor despite her outside draw.

Race 6: POP UP SERIES: STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $10,000 OR LESS IN L3 STARTS AND NW $50,000 IN 2025.

(1) RADCLIFFE was best of the rest last time out after being a runner-up finisher to a dominant winner. He should have every chance to get his picture taken and is one I’ll side with in this spot. (3) SHUTTER GREEN is one I backed last week after dropping out of a Harvest Series and didn’t have much to offer. He draws inside and I’m expecting him to be put in play and work out a more favorable trip here; contender. (4) LUVUTOTHEMOONANDBAK rallied nicely to be 3rd in his latest. He has shown improvement in every start since being off since July and is one that can take another step forward here, too. (7) HUNGRY HILL draws the widest but can rally for a share.

Race 7: FILLIES & MARES, NW $1,000 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $4,500 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $12,500.

(2) TAMARA HANOVER showed great life at the end of her mile last time out to secure the show spot. She draws inside yet again and seems ready for a possible winning effort here; top call. (7) FLIGHT CREW N is always a contender at this optional $12,500 class. She was a winner from pp10 and she’s the one to beat here tonight. (8) ROSE COLORDGLASSES is coming off a solid qualifying try and will debut on Lasix here. She starts outside but is in with a chance with the right trip. (10) WOODMERE FLOJO was a bit of a handful for JMac last time out and it resulted in him being parked the route because of it. She draws poorly again but can finish up nicely with an easier trip; using underneath.

Race 8: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 3 (FM 4) RACES OR $50,000 (OS $62,500) LIFE.

(1) ETERNALLY HANOVER is one I went to last week in this same class but he was never a factor after jumping it off at the gate as a result of broken equipment. He draws inside yet again and is one I’ll go to as a bounce-back candidate here. (5) BUCK DANCER was a comfortable winner at this level last time out after flaunting his class. He has strong double-up potential and is the one to beat. (7) SEEME ZOOM has had a sharp 2025 campaign. He’s coming off a miscue in London but is one that can be a big factor with the right trip, so long as he trots. (9) TALK SHOW HOST has been a consistent, on-the-board finisher as of late and should be able to continue that trend in spite of an outside draw.

Race 9: FILLIES & MARES OPEN.

(5) ABSOLUTION gobbled up race track and jogged last week at this class. She draws the middle of the gate and should be tough to fend off if she replicates a similar effort. (7) TELLS ON A ROLL was game in a second-place effort last time out. She draws outside but can flaunt that gate speed and work otu a good trip. (6) GRIT N GRACE has been racing tough week in and week out. She is a contender but I’ll use her underneath. (2) SO MUCH MORE gets reacquainted with James MacDonald and can pick up a share.

Race 10: FILLIES & MARES, NW $2,500 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $6,000 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $20,000.

(4) NICE BUNS was conservatively handled in her first start back in close to one month. She was okay in that effort and I think she’s ready for a bigger effort now that she’s back on a regular rotation. (9) SUPERIOR DELIGHT is a contender every time she races at this level. She’s been ultra-consistent and merits respect. (6) SANTAFE’S APPETITIE has failed to hit the board over her last two tries but she drew outside in each of them. She draws the middle of the gate and we could see her put in play this evening. (10) KELINA DIAMOND will make her first pari-mutuel start since July and comes in off a solid, 2nd place qualifying try. She draws outside but can contend with a perfect trip. (5) POWDER PLAY can hit the ticket here.
