Woodbine Mohawk Park: Analysis for Friday 12/26

Kevin Plowcha|Dec 23, 2025
Mohawk Logo 1.5

Top Pick Stats: 373/1087 (-$405.00)

Best Bets: 47/97 ($8.20)

Spot Plays: 19/97 (-$55.60)

Best Bet: PINEWOOD HANOVER (Race 4)

Spot Play: WOODMERE BETCHA (Race 6)

Early Pick-5: 1,3,7/6/1,8/6/6,8 = $2.40

Late Pick-5: 1,9/3,5/4,6,9/5/6,9 = $4.80

Race 1: NW $1,250 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $3,000 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: N/A $770 P/S IN 2025. AE: NW $18,500 IN 2025 - $53,161 Pick 5 Carryover

(3) MEADOWVIEW ROTHY strung together some strong miles at Mohawk earlier this season. Her last few efforts should have kept her tight enough. I’ll look for her to get away in decent order this week and put it all together. (7) OH LINA was an upset winner when last seen in this class. She does her work from off the pace and should be passing horses late in the mile. (1) WHEELIN N STEALIN raced pretty well last week. He was aggressively handled, then made a second move around the final turn and nearly rallied for second. If he can get away in decent order from the rail, he should be able to get a piece.

Race 2: FREE FOR ALL

(6) LOGAN PARK got back to his winning ways last time out, although that was 19 days ago. He is the best horse in this field and really should win. (7) USAIN HANOVER was coming back to the field, but Roy knew that he was a winner after stretching his advantage to half-a-dozen lengths. Jamieson will need to produce early speed if he wants to have a chance. (5) HASTY BID is the obvious exacta partner in this short field. You can trust J-Mac to use early speed and likely sit in the pocket.

Race 3: FILLIES & MARES, 4 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) OR $9,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES

(8) GALAS BLACK BEAUTY was a sharp second-place finisher in her career debut. She continues the trend from earlier in the season which saw Bulldog Hanover offspring do good things. She showed good speed on both ends of the mile. I’ll count on her being forwardly placed from the high draw. (1) BEACH WIGGLE was a multi length winner in her one and only morning prep. The connections have been on fire this year with anything, and the dam showed decent ability right away. (2) DIRTY LAUNDRY showed a little bit of pop in her career debut, but she still looks like a project type. I can see her getting a piece.

Race 4: NW $2,500 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $7,000 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $20,000. AE: N/A $1,235 P/S IN 2025 - $7,022 Pick 6 Carryover

(6) PINEWOOD HANOVER has been holding his own against tougher competition. He gets a key driver change and a drop in class that makes him stand out against an inconsistent group. (7) MARKET BANKER was aggressively handled last week and it resulted in a solid third-place finish. I think he will go back to an off the pace style tonight, but that works well for him too. (8) PESO HANOVER was a winner two starts ago, but was scratched lame last time out. If he tries to go forward, he could end up a step short at the wire.

Race 5: CLAIMING $20,000 FOR NW $30,000 (OS $37,500) LIFETIME. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE

(8) ABIDING ART was a horse I liked after what I thought was a tightener, and he delivered at 2-1. J-Mac picks up the lines tonight and should have him in position to repeat. (6) BOOTHILL HUDY was forced three wide after following what turned out to be cover that wasn’t the best. He closed sharply down the center of the track and just missed. If he can find another live helmet, he should be springing into contention. (9) CARSONSBUCKNGO got just enough of a jump on the aforementioned Boothill Hudy to get the job done last week, but now will have to navigate an outside draw. McNair has used early speed very often as of late with him.

Race 6: NIAGARA FINAL: 3 YEAR OLD FILLIES IN 2025, NW $60,000 LIFETIME AS OF OCTOBER 31, 2025. NO ALLOWANCES

(1) WOODMERE BETCHA has been steadily improving in recent weeks and could easily be the value of the race. She has enough speed to get herself away in a spot where she could pounce first over. (9) KIKI DEE HANOVER will look for a sweep of the Niagara, but will have to maneuver the high draw. Her sharp form and early speed makes her a big threat. (4) BETTERDOUBLEDOWN snuck up the inside last week and got the jump on Woodmere Betcha. She is yet another contender in what is an obvious drivers race.

Race 7: FILLIES & MARES, NW $6,100 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $12,000 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $30,000. AE: NW $100 L3 STARTS

(5) SANTAFES APPETITE pressed the gas pedal again last week and never let up, keeping her open length advantage all the way to the wire. This is a group with some more back class, but she has the speed to potentially take them all the way again. (3) WESTERN WISH is not in the form standard that we usually hold her to, but this drop in class should help her significantly. This could be a spot where she wakes up. (6) CHIEFS DREAM GIRL looked to be grinding into contention, but last week’s back half was way too fast for her to keep up. I’ll look for her to try a similar move tonight and get a piece.

Race 8: VALEDICTORY FINAL: 3 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS IN 2025, NW $60,000 LIFETIME AS OF OCTOBER 31, 2025. NO ALLOWANCES

(6) GET WINGS will look for a Valedictory sweep after winning in two different ways. He draws perfectly tonight and should be in a great spot off the car. (4) RBSTENACIOUS T ended up basically being the winner by default after Blazing Cruiser bobbled at the start. Still, that race went pretty quick, and he showed sharp speed to pull away from everyone else. (9) BLAZING CRUISER made a big recovery after that aforementioned early miscue to just get up for second. Does he have the speed to win this with the right trip? Absolutely. Is he also a major question mark from the high draw? Yes.

Race 9: FREE FOR ALL

(5) TAURASI looks like himself again, having won three straight Open races since returning from a little time off. I’ll look for him to make it four in a row. (2) BRUE HANOVER was a very good second behind Taurasi, and that was from post nine. It’s tough to determine what price he will bring, but the post relief could allow him to sit in the pocket and go by in the final few strides. (3) PACINO HANOVER got a lovely setup from the back when Soaring Now made a break, and the others bolted away to a sharp opening half. He circled way wide and just got up at a square price. He has enough late kick to find his way onto the ticket.

Race 10: CLAIMING HANDICAP $12,000 TO $15,000. ALLOWANCES FOR AGE & SEX. ENTER IN MULTIPLES OF $1,000

(6) DONATOVER somehow re-rallied to finish second after looking like he was going to fade back towards last. It would have made sense, considering how hard he was used from post nine. He races off the claim tonight; I’ll look for him to get back to his winning ways. (9) LEGACYS JAILBREAK has been very good in her last two efforts. The post should only help her price. She is a must use on tickets in my opinion. (5) DOUBLE DIPPIN will try to give Aaron Byron another Saratoga to Mohawk winner. It’s a different trainer this time, but the same pipeline. He should be in the mix early and can hang on for a piece.

Race 11: FILLIES & MARES, NW $1,640 LAST 4 STARTS (W/O $7,500 LAST 8 STARTS N/E). AE: OPT. CLM. $12,500. AE: NW $26,000 IN 2025

(10) CATCHMEGRACEFULLY made a delayed move to the front from the high draw last week, and moved outside in the stretch to try and catch the leader, but came up short. I thought it was a strong effort in her first start on Lasix. If she can get forwardly placed off the car, she could pull the upset. (8) JOB HUNTER made a strong first over move last week and ended up getting her nose in front in what was a three across photo. McNair takes the lines tonight on a mare who he is familiar with. (4) TAMARA HANOVER really should have won last week with the setup that she got. She has had a gigantic year, no doubt, and she should be passing horses given the potential amount of early speed, but she might just be getting a little tired as the year winds down.
