Woodbine Mohawk Park: Analysis for Friday 12/19

Kevin Plowcha|Dec 17, 2025
Mohawk Logo 1.5

Top Pick Stats: 370/1076 (-$397.40)

Best Bets: 47/96 ($10.20); Spot Plays: 19/96 (-$53.60)

Best Bet: MY GIRL FRIDAY (Race 11)

Spot Play: HIGHLAND DELIGHT (Race 8)

Early Pick-5: 3,5/3,5/7,8/1,4/1,6 $6.40

Middle Pick-5: 4/2,7/1/2,6,8/3,6 $2.40

Late Pick-5: 1,5/2,6,8/3,6/2/1,3,7,8 $9.60

Race 1: FILLIES & MARES, 4 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 2 RACES) OR $9,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES.

(5) RUNWAY DIVA has some strong early speed that can be used to her advantage. She has shown flashes and could work beautifully off a helmet tonight. (3) D A BLACK BEAUTY has also shown signs of ability in her Fall return, but hasn’t quite put it all together yet. She should only continue to improve with more starts. (8) STEAL MY SUNSHINE was a filly I liked last week, and she raced well en route to a second place finish. She could have a tougher time working into the race from post eight, but I’ll use her on the ticket.

Race 2: NIAGARA: 3 YEAR OLD FILLIES IN 2025, NW $60,000 LIFETIME AS OF OCTOBER 31, 2025. NO ALLOWANCES. LEG 2.

(3) SUNNYS GIRL was a sharp second in leg one of her division of the Niagara. The gate speed she used three starts ago catches my eye. She could end up in a much better spot tonight and run down the leaders late. (5) BETTERDOUBLEDOWN is likely to be the quickest off the car by default, but I can see it setting up perfectly where she gets picked off in the late stages. She has a bit of a bridesmaid reputation as of late. (6) WOODMERE BETCHA was sprinting with the leaders last week and was weaving between horses in the final eighth of the mile. Leading driver James Macdonald takes the lines back and could have her on the move in the early stages.

Race 3: NW $2,500 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $7,250 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $20,000. AE: N/A $1,100 P/S IN 2025.

I wanted to find a way past (7) COVER BAND who I think is going to be a severe underlay, but I just couldn’t. He got a couple tighteners in at The Meadowlands, and is reunited with a familiar pilot. (8) BUCK DANCER has been too sharp lately at the class below this. He was a solid third when last seen at this level. He should have every chance to get a big piece if forwardly placed. (6) MARKET BANKER got into the outside flow last week but was just even when trotting home. He is usually reliable to pass horses in the late stages and can land on the ticket.

Race 4: FILLIES & MARES, NW $1,400 LAST 4 STARTS. AE: N/A $700 P/S IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). AE: OPT. CLM. $12,500.

(4) COZ IM SPECIAL got a perfect prep in her first start back, and made up solid ground in the late stages. McNair sticks tonight; She could easily step forward in her second start off the bench. (1) MUCHTOOYOUNGFORYOU produced a sharp closing kick in her first start over the Mohawk oval. She will need to find a bit more speed, but could do so with the big post switch. (9) ALLSMOKEANDMIRRORS was put in play last week in her second start back and was in contention at the top of the stretch, but faded back to miss a check. I think she has a chance to grind into the race and get a piece at a price.

Race 5: NW $1,400 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $5,300 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: N/A $870 P/S IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). AE: N/A $985 P/S IN 2024-25.

(6) LEGACYS JAILBREAK has shown nice versatility in her last few miles and draws perfectly against an inconsistent group. I’ll give her the nod. (1) BADEN BADEN is a filly I haven’t given up on yet, though when she takes or gives pressure, it looks like she can’t sustain it. She could sit an inside trip and rally between horses. You would add significant value if she brings her top game. (4) WALKONTHEMOON gets a drop back to the bottom level where he has shown ability on the front. He should be able to finish on the ticket.

Race 6: VALEDICTORY: 3 YEAR COLTS & GELDINGS IN 2025, NW $60,000 LIFETIME AS OF OCTOBER 31, 2025. NO ALLOWANCES. LEG 2.

(4) GET WINGS got shuffled after leaving out last week, but was able to get back to the outside and tracked down the leader. He hasn’t missed the exacta in his last seven starts. I’ll give him the call to repeat. (5) MAGICAL BET got into the sharp outside flow and got to the front, but was tracked down by the aforementioned Get Wings. J-Mac got plenty out of him last week. (1) LEFT HAND LOU was pacing as well as anyone in the stretch last week. In a shorter field, I can see him passing a few horses late and adding slight value to the ticket.

Race 7: NW $1,400 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $5,300 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: N/A $870 P/S IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). AE: N/A $985 P/S IN 2024-25.

(2) SOUTHWIND DOMINO feels obvious after last week’s tightener, and now he gets a big post switch. His second start on Lasix could prove to be the winning route. (7) BUTTINSKI gets a key driver change after a couple of efforts where he missed getting a check. He had been holding his own back in October. If he gets back to that form, he could add some value in this race. (3) LIKE CHAOS tried to make two moves in what was his first start since September. He was overbet in that spot, and also reasonably faded. He should be stronger tonight.

Race 8: NIAGARA: 3 YEAR OLD FILLIES IN 2025, NW $60,000 LIFETIME AS OF OCTOBER 31, 2025. NO ALLOWANCES. LEG 2.

(1) HIGHLAND DELIGHT could be forgotten about after her third place finish as the favorite. The front end hasn’t been holding up as well over the last few cards, which gives her a potential excuse. I’ll take a small swing. (5) PIPERS LUNA stands out as the major wild card in this race. She looked to have pace after sitting in the pocket, but when the room was never going to materialize, it appeared that J-Mac threw in the towel. Whether that was his decision or the horse just stopping remains to be seen. (6) KIKI DEE HANOVER went all the way last week after blasting to the front. She is likely to try that trip again and should be right there at the wire.

Race 9: FILLIES & MARES, NW $6,250 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $14,000 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $30,000. AE: NW $46,500 IN 2025 (MIN 15 STARTS).

(8) DELTA SUNRISE was trip compromised in her latest. She was moving well once she got to the outside. A better trip could see her end up in the winner’s circle. Jamieson knew what he had with (2) LA MIKI N and wasn’t asking for too much when they came to the wire. She can take a step forward and be right there again. (6) CENTURY JAMILA is a logical use with Roy sticking and a strong post draw. She is a mare that I personally have chased way too many times in the past.

Race 10: VALEDICTORY: 3 YEAR COLTS & GELDINGS IN 2025, NW $60,000 LIFETIME AS OF OCTOBER 31, 2025. NO ALLOWANCES. LEG 2.

(3) BLAZING CRUISER made two moves en route to a win as the odds on choice last week. I expect J-Mac to get a similar amount of speed out of him tonight. (6) HASSELHOFF didn’t get a winning trip last week when setting a very quick first half. He is better when racing off a helmet from mid-pack. I’ll try him again to get a big piece. (5) RBSTENACIOUS T made a sharp first over move to get to the front, but was tracked down by both of the even money favorites out of that last race. He can work out any trip tonight and find a way onto the ticket.

Race 11: FILLIES & MARES, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 RACES OR $30,000 (OS $44,250) LIFETIME. AE: 4 YEAR OLDS NW $1,600 LAST 4 STARTS.

(2) MY GIRL FRIDAY has the post edge on the filly that she just beat last week. She will look to remain unbeaten in her short career. (9) DREAMFAIR DIAMOND couldn’t catch the aforementioned My Girl Friday after sitting a perfect pocket trip. It could easily set up to be a match race between those two fillies again. (3) P L SUZIE likes to pass horses late and could easily benefit if the top two battle themselves out of the race.

Race 12: FILLIES & MARES, NW $2,500 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $8,000 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $20,000.

I might be pulling the trigger too quickly with (3) ETHEL, but I know what she is capable of around the Mohawk oval when she is at her best. She paced a strong final quarter after getting a trip around the track, and now gets a better post. I would look for her to be more involved tonight. (1) ROCKNROLL ANNIE comes off two straight wins at similar levels and now picks up the leading driver. If she continues her sharp form, she should be in contention. (7) SANTAFES APPETITE tried another front-end trip last week and finished a strong second. The early speed has completely turned her form around in the last two starts.
