Top Pick Stats: 271/787 (-$249.20) Best Bets: 35/72 ($13.70); Spot Plays: 15/72 (-$35.20) Best Bet: LIGHT THE TORCH (Race 12) Spot Play: SAUBLE AMBER (Race 10) Early Pick-5: 5,6,8/2/2,5/9/4,10   $2.40 Middle Pick-5: 2,10/1/4,7,8/1/5   $1.20 Late Pick-5: 1/5/2,4/6/1,2,5   $1.20 Race 1: FILLIES & MARES, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 2 RACES OR $30,000 (OS $47.750) LIFETIME. AE: 3 YEAR OLDS NW $5000 LAST 4 STARTS. (6) LAVENDER SEELSTER made a delayed move to the front and only got picked off in the late stages by No Better Air who is a solid filly. This is a class test against older horses, but Roy gets the most out of her. (8) LAYDEE FREIGHT had to do more work than she was accustomed to last week and was unable to sustain her first over move. If she can find a helmet to work off of tonight, she could rebound nicely. (5) TENNIS QUEEN ships north of the border after being her own worst enemy in New York. She could be a filly who just needs to race on a bigger track. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: POP UP SERIES: F&M STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $10,000 OR LESS IN L3 STARTS (W/O $40,000 IN 2025 N/E). AE: NW $30,000 IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). LEG 2. (2) MARGOSGOTTHECARGO was making an extremely menacing first over move, but showed her quirks once again and made a break at 1-9. She is the fastest horse in this race, but it means nothing if she keeps getting in her own way. (4) PARKAVENUEJANET went on a speed mission last week and looked home free after Margo made that aforementioned break in stride. She was tracked down late in the stretch, but was still a good second. She should be able to get away in decent order in this short field. (3) GETTING EUCHERED had to settle for a minor share in her latest when finishing well behind the top pair. She has as good of a chance as anyone to round out the trifecta. Race 3: POP UP SERIES: H&G STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $10,000 OR LESS IN L3 STARTS (W/O $40,000 IN 2025 N/E). AE: NW $30,000 IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). LEG 2. (5) WALLACE HARTLEY was a horse who I thought brought some upside into last week’s race, and he proved me right, drawing away at a solid 4-1 price. He should have no trouble getting off the car this week and can repeat. (2) STONEBRIDGE HELIOS gets leading driver James Macdonald back in the bike who has been this horse’s best partner as of late. He just gets more out of fringe horses like this. He should challenge for the win. (4) CRUNCH HANOVER has taken plenty of air on the outside in recent efforts, but the common denominator among them is that he keeps moving forward. If any early speed falters, he should find himself in the money. Race 4: FILLIES & MARES, NW $9,100 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $18,000 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $50,000. (9) ASWEETBEACHHERE towers over these with her back class, in my opinion. The post could push some bettors away, but even if she gets away mid-pack, she has enough talent to make another move and win. (8) ONLYTHEGOODDIYOUNG got a tightener under her belt after not racing in over a month. The qualifier a couple weeks before showed that she didn’t miss a beat. She can add some value to exotics. (3) COCO JO JO tried a first over move against a version of So Much More that not many are beating. I do think she can get discouraged at times when trying moves like that, but when she digs in, she is a win threat. Race 5: FILLIES & MARES, NW $2,500 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $7,000 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $20,000. (4) CHICKABELL is likely to take similar support to last week given that she had nowhere to go in the stretch. She left out and was sitting a pocket trip, but no room ever materialized. J-Mac goes elsewhere after driving her last week, but Drury could be just as aggressive. (10) COCCO PUFF POWER picks up the aforementioned leading driver who piloted her to a win and two second place finishes early in her career. I’ll try to add some value in a wide open race. (2) SUPERIOR DELIGHT grinded out another win last week and kept Chickabell locked in. She is having an excellent season and deserves to be used. Race 6: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GOLD SUPER FINAL: 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES. (2) FLOWING TRIBUTE had no adversary on her level once Ronda May K made a break in stride at the start. She has been the class of this group all season and will look to finish off an excellent run. (10) BINGO NIGHT has been the only filly to beat Flowing Tribute thus far, but draws worst in tonight’s Super Final. She should be forwardly placed despite the wide draw. She hasn’t finished out of the money yet. (7) CHER HILL grinded out a win last time against Bingo Night. When she minds her manners, she can be a contender. However, she appears to be a step below the heavy favorite. They race them for a reason, though. Race 7: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GOLD SUPER FINAL: 2 YEAR OLD FILLIES. (1) A CLEAN DEAL was moved to the front last week, and that proved to be the winning move. She didn’t have to worry about grinding first over, and once she got a middle half of over 56 seconds, it was curtains for the rest. I’ll give her the nod in a top heavy Super Final. (5) DAYA is the other half of the potential heavyweight matchup. She is a very nice filly who digs in when challenged, and should be right there when turning for home. (7) JEN TILLY finished well behind the top two, but should still be considered for a finish in the money. She could find a helmet and work into contention. Race 8: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GOLD SUPER FINAL: 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS. (7) STROBE LITE took early pressure from an outside rival, but was able to easily fend off that horse. Who he couldn’t fend off was (4) TOUCHEDBYANANGEL, who looked to be finishing second the entire stretch until he dug in and won. Those two are the main contenders as of late, and deserve the top support in the race. (8) TROUBLE WITH NAMES had a golden trip in his latest, but when he came to the outside, he just went backwards. He will need more with the big money being on the line tonight. Race 9: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GOLD SUPER FINAL: 2 YEAR OLD COLTS & GELDINGS. I’m running out of original things to say about (1) BEAU JANGLES, who has now joined millionaire’s row after just nine starts. It helps when you win them all, to be fair. They weren’t close to him last week. (6) ODDS ON BULLFROG makes his first foray into Gold competition, and it comes at a pretty good time. He is getting better with every start, and could easily challenge for an in the money finish with a good trip. (7) WINDOR pulled off a big upset when last raced, but that was over a month ago now. He got a necessary qualifier under his belt to keep him sharp, and McNair has driven him excellently this year. Race 10: POP UP SERIES: F&M STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $10,000 OR LESS IN L3 STARTS (W/O $40,000 IN 2025 N/E). AE: NW $30,000 IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). LEG 2. (5) SAUBLE AMBER draws a perfect post to fire out from and sit another perfect trip. It was a slick steer from Louis Roy to move her between horses, and she accelerated well. I’ll give her the nod to repeat. (3) ALWAYS B MERRY was making up ground in the stretch, and was even closing in on Rocks Shadow who got a big breather. She can get another big piece of the pie. (2) ROCKS SHADOW was fired out to the lead in leg one, but was unable to finish the job in the sprint home. The middle half may have been a touch too slow, but I don’t think it excuses her enough to try again on top. Race 11: POP UP SERIES: H&G STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $10,000 OR LESS IN L3 STARTS (W/O $40,000 IN 2025 N/E). AE: NW $30,000 IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). LEG 2. (4) YYC ON THE HORIZON has been winning in dominating fashion at Flamboro, and now faces some tougher company this week in this Pop-Up. This is purely a barn play, as HF Pans Shadow won on Tuesday in dominating fashion for the same trainer. (2) DELIGHTFUL LEADER is a horse who doesn’t need the lead to be successful, which can prove extremely useful against horses like this who could rattle off a :54 and change opening half. He could grind out a win here. (1) ETHERIUM PARTY angled out of the pocket and was just able to hold off the fast closing Ripasso. He kept his winning form going when shipping in. I’ll look for him to get a piece tonight. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 12: POP UP SERIES: H&G STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $10,000 OR LESS IN L3 STARTS (W/O $40,000 IN 2025 N/E). AE: NW $30,000 IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS). LEG 2. (6) LIGHT THE TORCH was a very strong second after having to wait for room to develop at the top of the stretch. Once he got out, he was rolling down the center of the track, but the winner had already gotten the jump. Keep him out of traffic trouble and he could roll down the road. (4) WHY WOULDNT YA doesn’t deserve to have anything taken away from him in victory. He made a big first over blitz and left everyone in the dust. It was over from there. I am curious if a quarter move is in the cards, or if McNair will want to try a similar brush. (5) RIPASSO just missed against the aforementioned Etherium Party after flipping off cover and closing down the center of the track. He is in sharp form right now, but can not string together winning efforts. Race 13: NW $2,500 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $5000 LAST 8 STARTS. (W/O $10,700 LAST 8 STARTS N/E). AE: OPT. CLM. $20,000. (5) TYMAL RIGGS gets another drop in class after grinding out a third place finish. There could be some gate speed in the cards for him tonight, which I think makes him a dangerous drop and pop candidate. (1) HUNGRY HILL was an improved second place finisher last week when dropping to the bottom level. This is a solid middle ground that he can find success at. (2) VERACRUZ was unable to pick up a check last week after Scott Young tried to make two moves with him. The post relief should help, but he may be able to weave through horses and get a piece.
