ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Jenna’s Wabbit survived a claim of foul to capture his turf debut Saturday at Woodbine in the $125,800 Bold Ruckus Stakes.
Jenna’s Wabbit stalked the leaders inside on the turn in the six-furlong dash, before jockey Eurico Da Silva angled him wide for the drive. Jenna’s Wabbit bumped with Bear and Rod several times in the stretch, before going on to a 2 1/2-length score in 1:09.98 over the yielding ground.
Favored Raincoats’ntuxedos held on for second after participating in a speed duel, and Locally Made rallied for third in the 10-horse field of Ontario-sired 3-year-olds.
Bear and Rod’s rider, Justin Stein, claimed foul for interference, which was disallowed by the stewards.
“He ran like a Maserati,” said Da Silva. “He was in great position, and not using himself at all. He was enjoying himself. He really liked the turf.”
Jenna’s Wabbit ($8.70) won $75,000 in his third stakes triumph for the partnership of Danny Lococo and Mary Biamonte, the wife of trainer of Ralph Biamonte.
