Woodbine horses to watch: Week of Nov. 23
MONEY TALKS
Trainer: Bill Tharrenos
Last race: Nov. 15, 6th
Finish: 3rd by 2 3/4
Beyer: 61
He got into more trouble than Rob Ford in an Ontario-sired allowance route. He stumbled early while appearing to clip heels and was steadied while running rank on the first turn. After awaiting room on the far turn, he had enough left to finish a clear third.
DANZIG STORM
Trainer: Mark Casse
Last race: Nov. 15, 4th
Finish: 6th by 4 1/4
Beyer: 59
Off his encouraging debut, he was bet down to 2-1 favoritism in a seven-furlong maiden special. The son of Distorted Humor was steadied while in tight on the far turn and then dropped back before making up some ground in the final furlong.
DUPPY CONQUEROR
Trainer: Catherine Day Phillips
Last race: Nov. 13, 6th
Finish: 1st by 10 1/2
Beyer: 67
Following a layoff in her second start, she crushed $25,000 Ontario-sired maidens going 6 1/2 furlongs. The 3-year-old resides in a live barn, and she seems capable of doubling up in a much more lucrative Ontario-sired allowance.
SOON MIA SOON
Trainer: Mike McDonald
Last race: Nov. 17, 9th
Finish: 5th by 3 1/4
Beyer: 46
She raced wide over an inside-favoring track and was blocked behind rivals in late stretch when in the midst of her rally. She won her two previous races in the lower claiming ranks and should get back on track next time out if things go her way.
