Woodbine Harness: Horses To Watch for May 3 - May 7

Ken Walters|May 09, 2012

Thursday, May 3

BORDEAUXS BEST (CLMHCP10/12000) This beaten favorite managed to get completely buried on the rail until the lane, rallied steadily through traffic and deserved a better fate.

JET WASH (PRINCESS) Beaten favorite was parked throughout behind parked cover, raced third over into the final turn, went wide, continued steadily and got up for third but had tired just enough to lose her kick. Look for an improved effort in next with a better trip.

KING PETE (CLM10000) Won going away in last and should be able to take another even if he moves up a bit.

JUST BREATHE (NW2FM) Closed well from third over to get up for second. Can get it all if in the mood.

TWIN B ELITE (NW3FM) Went down the road as far as she could over a `good' track on a rainy night and was a game second at 37-1.

Friday, May 4

BALBRIGGAN FOX (CLMHCP12/15000) Got roughed up badly in last. Left in traffic, got looped to the lead and parked for his lungs, challenged all the way to the stretch, dug in tenaciously but tired.

BIG MCDEAL (NW3FM) This beaten favorite was in a no-win situation racing 5th over, followed wide, hit overdrive just a step too late and just missed ripping off a :26/4 last panel.

OAKLEA TYSON (NW2) Was looped to the lead, yielded to a retake, sat pocket, seemed willing but had to wait to the last steps to angle out. By then it was too late.

V SQUARED (CLM12000) The winner got away and the pocket horse gapped out. This one sat on the rail to the lane, angled out, finished full of trot to narrow the gap as the winner bore out but had lost best chance.

Saturday, May 5

U R AMAZING (NW5000) Finished fast from back of the pack in last and has to be respected off that closing kick.

CAMPASSER (NW82000) Got all the worst of it in last. Left from the outside, got parked, challenged to the final turn before backing off. A better trip equals a better result.

FIRE ON THE WATER (NW14000) Had poor cover going to the third panel and was forced to swing wide much too early. Raced too wide too long but finished steadily. Love cover might be all he needs.

SAFE HARBOR (NW3) Has been a monster and might be able to continue his run. In last he sat third over biding his time to mid lane, tipped and rushed home quickly seeming to have more in the tank.

Monday, May 7

LAKEFIELD (NW13000) Rushed home powerfully from the back of the pack and just missed. Beaten favorite had too far to come and should atone in next.

THUNDER STEELER (NW1/3YO) Tried the front end last time and was downed by the favorite. Earns another look in next race or two.

REAL INFUSION (NW3) Went down the road at a good clip and was second best to the odds-on favorite.

IMMINENT RESPONSE (PRF) Sat in a tight pocket, cleared inside much too late but closed willingly. Deserved a better fate and should not be overlooked.
