Woodbine Harness: Horses To Watch for March 1 - March 5

Ken Walters|Mar 07, 2012

Thursday, March 1

MIA SEELSTER (NW1FM) Was rough leaving and looped to the lead, settled, rallied to the lead, opened up a huge lead but was unable to stall the winner while next best at 17-1.

THE BARBER (CLM10000) Had to rally around poor cover passing the third panel and into the lane, rallied gamely and cut the margin but had too far to come as the winner got away.

ST LADS PENNY LANE (NW2FM) Left into a first turn traffic jam, took back and tucked, came uncovered the last half, rallied steadily, took the lead in the shadow of the wire but was second best tonight. Beaten favorite should atone in next.

LIFE DREAM HANOVER (NW2) Sat the rear to the lane, swung out, set down and motored home but had moved too late.

GIDDY UP BELLE (NW2FM) Left into the scrum into first turn, settled back, tucked, raced third over and closed with good pace. Better racing luck makes her a factor in next.

Friday, March 2

HERBIE L (NW8000) left, tucked, sat in, angled out heading home, stormed through the lane and won going away. Should be able to score another.

PRETTY CRAFTY (NW2) Left to the top, yielded, got shuffled, pulled, tucked the pocket to the winner, had game pace in tight quarters in the late stages and deserved a chance to show his stuff.

PLAY AT WYNN (NW13000FM) Sat to the rear until the final turn, swung into the turn, wheeled wide, set down and closed a ton--but was too late as the fast closing winner had a better trip.

BETTERLUVNEXTTIME (NW3FM) Followed wide behind the winner, finished full of pace but came up a half length short.

BRUSHSTROKES (NW8100FM) Was parked to the lead, set her own clip but was struggling with the track. Faster track, better result.

Saturday, March 3

VACATION DAY (NW8000) Responded with a game uncovered win as the favorite when dropped to this level. Might be the needed spark to start a fire under him.

DADDY MAC (NW8000) Beaten favorite was roughed up on the front end in Saturday night finale. Pressed hard early, he was swallowed up by a plethora of closers in the late stages.

BAY OF SHARKS (OPEN) Won impressively going down the road in last and can continue winning ways.

AUDREYS DREAM (CAMFELLA) Sat in the pocket, closed willingly after clearing the tiring pacesetter in the late stages.

Monday, March 5

COLE DIDDY (NW5000) Got stuck on the rail when it counted most, angled out around traffic too late to menace but was more than willing.

BRADY MAC (NW2) Pulled uncovered to the half, rallied up, challenged the favorite to the last steps but could not get it done. Better racing luck makes him a winner.

CREIGHTON HANOVER (NW2) Closed best from third over but could not get there. Beaten favorite can atone with better trip.

ROETHBLISSBERGER (NW3) Chased the slightly favored and slightly better winner home second best in last effort.
