Woodbine Harness: Horses to watch from January 31 - February 3

Ken Walters|Feb 05, 2014

Friday, January 31

VIOLET BAYAMA (NW1FM) Beaten favorite had poor cover from a parked out horse, came wide passing the third panel, lost ground on the turn, set down and closed well but the winner had gotten the jump on her.

EMBASSY SEELSTER (NW2FM) This one was parked from the 10-hole in last at 65-1, rushed out, challenged the pace to the third panel before giving way.

NAUGHTY MACHBEAN (NW2FM) Rushed up uncovered in last, challenged most of the middle half before tiring and should fare better in next race or two.

HER NAME IS LOLA (NW2) Was wide early, rallied up uncovered to the half, challenged to the lane, dug in gamely while tiring and will not be 50-1 again.

BEE FULLOF STEINAM (NW3750FM) Was parked with cover to the half, came wide to the third panel as cover backed up, cleared, chased, challenged but tired. Beaten favorite can atone with any kind of trip.

Saturday, February 1

FIRST IMPRESSION (CLM8000) Was second over behind tiring cover coming to the half, had to go wide, cleared, chased, challenged, took the lead but tired in excellent effort.

TOP GEAR (NW15000) Angled out heading home, set down, closed a ton and nearly caught what appeared to be a napping winner.

JOSHUA MY BOY (CLM20/35000) Got parked for his life in last, ranged up uncovered, challenged, had the lead entering the stretch but tired.

SPEED AGAIN (NW10000) Made a bold move to the half, took the lead, opened up but could not last getting nailed on the wire by the favorite.

J C ONTHEBEACH (NW2) Left and tried to challenged, took back and found a seat, saved to the lane, found a route and finished with a flourish but it was too late to nail the favored winner.

Monday, February 3

HIDDEN IDENTITY (NW3500) Rallied gamely from the pocket chasing the even money favorite to the wire gaining little by little and just missed.

DONAU (NW3500) Slipped out turning home, angled clear, closed strongly and just missed in good try.

DELCREST JULIAN (NW9500) Saved ground, improved by closing a gap going to the third panel but had too much traffic to clear in the lane finally wiggling wide and closed well.

TARAS JET (CLM8000FM) Had a ton of pace from third over and earns a look in next race or two.
