Woodbine Harness: Horses To Watch for February 23 - February 27

Ken Walters|Feb 29, 2012

Thursday, February 23

GRACE SEELSTER (NW1FM) Hit her best stride too late as the winner won going away but picked off a few through the lane.

FLYUSTOTHEMOON (NW2FM) Moved early, got parked uncovered, challenged the pacesetting favorite (and eventual winner) to the late stages but the trip was too much against a horse too good.

HOPE FOR PADDY (NW2FM) Came uncovered, won going away totally wrapped up. Can do it again.

KING PETE (CLMCHP12/15000) Beaten favorite was victim of a horrible 5th over trip but finished fast enough (:26.4) to indicate atonement might be as close as next week.

HURTIN ALBERTAN (CLM10000) Got parked early, challenged, could not clear, settled for a tuck approaching the half as the pocket opened. Came again the final quarter, wore down the speed, had aim but the early sting had taken just enough out of him.

Friday, February 24

STACKED DECK (NW8000FM) Came fast but late from out of the clouds to gain second closing on the eased up winner.

MISS SAND CREEK (DAMSEL) Closed strongly when racing for purse only in first round action over a speed favoring track rated `good.'

BEE FULLOF STEINAM (DAMSEL) Brushed and crushed in her division of first round action in the series for 4-5 mares.

PROFESSORSDAPAPERS (CLM20000) Came uncovered, challenged a revved up favorite a long way before faltering early stretch. Should be a factor with any kind of trip.

Saturday, February 25

MIDNITE ROMP (NW15000) Closed a ton albeit a tad or two late. Needs to be closer to the action when the action starts.

FIRST IMPRESSION (NW5000) Roared home from off the pace on a speed favoring night. A better trip could get him home in front.

PANDA BEAR (NW5000) Chose the uncovered route in night when eight horses went wire to wire. Closed strongest and has a license to take another.

LOOKIN FOR A GITH (NW8000) Jumped into the fray too late but closed fast to nail second.

Monday, February 27

FOREGO THE CIGAR (NW2) Bobbled while coming up uncovered, took back while wide, rallied well but had lost any chance.

DEL RIO SEELSTER (NW5000) Chased the winner home determinedly but was second best in last.Beaten favorite can atone with better post.

HI TECH TONY (CLM12000) Took bad steps as the gate swung open and was forced to tuck, came uncovered the last half, ranged up uncovered and gamed out second. Beaten favorite can win next with clean line.

PLANET EARTH (NW13000) Closed gamely from second over following the favorite home and should get a winner's photo op of his own in near future.
