Woodbine Harness: Horses to watch from February 2 to 7

Ken Walters|Feb 09, 2015

Monday, February 2

WHISKEY N PIE (NW1) tried the front end, met the favorite's pressure through the lane, did not go peacefully but was second best at the wire.

JLS TIMES R GOOD (CLM15000) came uncovered, challenged the odds-on favorite but flattened mid lane. Do not ignore if facing similar foes.

ROCKNROLL BAND (CLMHCP8/10000) swung off the rail on the final turn, tipped wide and closed well but had too far to come.

URGENTLY (CLMHCP8/10000) was unlucky in last getting parked the mile, challenged to the final turn, tired but hung around for a share.

Thursday, February 5

JANIE BAY (CLMHCP8/10000FM) tucked early, pulled to the half, raced uncovered, challenged to the lane but tired.

PINOT GRIGIO (NW1FM) closed with authority and beat the odds-on favorite like she was standing still. Should be able to take another soon.

PLAY GROUND (CLM15000FM) closed gamely from third over and just missed.

STAR OF THUNDER (NW2) came out nowhere to gain third missing by just a length.

CAPELO (CLMHCP15/20000) won easily on the front end and looms as a repeat winner.

Friday, February 6

SHUTTHEFRONTDOOR (NW3FM) roared home in last from an impossible spot to earn the game nod.

RUBIS PERSCOTT (NW13000FM) took the lead, yielded, retook, met pressure, shook it off and drew away for impressive score in last.

ESCUELA (NW3) was far back heading home, rallied strongly and proved second best to the favorite.

EXEMPLAR (NW5) took the lead, yielded, sat pocket and jogged home.

Saturday, February 7

AVATARTIST (Prf) put in a good down-the-road effort in last over a tiring track with the odds-on favorite challenging uncovered. Should be able to hold the lead under the right circumstances.

BACK YARD BABY (NW6100FM) was parked to the lead at 15-1 and hounded by a determined challenger. Put away the threat, held off the late closing favorite but was softened enough for the pocketsitting second fvorite to rush by. Will get to the winner's circle soon.

RAMBLINGAMBLINMAN (OntBoys) closed from the clouds in last and earns a look in next leg.

NIRVANA SEELSTER (OntBoys) wired the field in first leg action on a night built for late closers and won by nearly three. Will be a force through series.

CRACKER JACK (NW16500) was used to the lead, set a pressed pace and tired. Well-trained vet should be hard to beat in next few outs.
