Woodbine Harness: Horses to watch from Dec. 8 - Dec. 13

Ken Walters|Dec 15, 2014

Monday, December 8

IF IT RAINS (CLM15000) raced uncovered a long way, challenged the pacesetting favorite but was second best in brave effort.

STRONG HOPE (NW4000) was well used to gain command, set the pace under early pressure, shrugged off the challenger, open up a steps or two in the final turn but tired. All this at 23-1 was too much to endure.

SPEND IT ALL (CLMHCP8/10000FM) left well, tucked but was shuffled badly when the pocket horse gave way, tipped too late to get close but rallied too well not to notice.

SMARTY PANTS (NW8000) left well to a tuck but was shufffed back by lead changes, tipped late and closed well. Well connected miss should be closer in next.

GLAMMIT (NW2000) was in the pocket heading home, had plenty of pace but got stuck in traffic. Angled clear too late to make a big move but closed very willingly and should be a force in next.

Thursday, December 11

NIPPY W HANOVER (NW1/2-3YOF) absolutely jogged in last indicating she should be able to continue winning ways.

MYSTERY BET (NW1/2-3YO) tucked, brushed, crushed and should take another.

SEA STAR (CLM15000) was parked the mile in last, gained cover, came wide to the wire and won easily enough to indicate there should be another score or two.

P L HEAVENLY (NW2) stormed home to take home the bacon as the well-bet favorite and looms as probable repeat winner.

Friday, December 12

PUTMEINTOGO (NW6000FM) went down the road, faced pressure, shook it off easily and drew away leaving plenty for next outing.

MY KID SISTER (NW2) closed gamely chasing the winner to the wire and should find a win of her own soon.

OCEANVIEW BINDI (NW6000FM) closed a ton but had too much to make up. Beaten favorite should atone.

KINDOFABIGDEAL (VALEDCTORY) wired the field in good order and has stamped himself as one of the main players in the series.

Saturday, December 13

REGAL LUCK (NW3) yielded, retook, set a good clip and was an impressive winner in last. Only wire to wire winner on the card has to be noted.

ABC MUSCLES BOY (NW3) after leaving for early lead, he yielded and was shuffled, pulled uncovered to the half, challenged a long way, wore down the speed and was not threatened by the late closers. Well bet winner can take another.

WORLD AWAY (NW7500) put in a huge last panel racing third over and following the winner home. Game vet took his initial win years back with three move score and you can look it up. He just seems to have the guts even as he ages.

IDEAL JET (NW3) tried the front at nearly 8-1 in last and was nailed by the fast closing favorite. It was not a good night for speed and this fella earns a look under more favorable circumstances.
