Woodbine Harness: Horses to watch from Dec. 7 - Dec. 11

Ken Walters|Dec 13, 2017

Thursday, December 7

LYONS STEEL (NW1) was in a slow early flow, escaped troube avoiding a breaker, tried to rally but was hindered by a sluggish horse on the rim, took the inside, stayed patient behind a gapper, tipped passing the third call, came wide, rallied gamely but had much too much to overcome.

BURN OUT HANOVER (NW2) went down the road best at every call.

BANK SHOT HANOVER (NW2500) was wide in the final turn from back of the pack and closed best of all.

JAYDA NICOLE (NW1FM) beaten favorite closed from third over but was second best to first-time winner and can atone in quick order.

Friday, December 8

KIWI FOCUS (NW17500FM) tucked, got shuffled, sat in traffic through the lane and never had a chance to fire.

CLOUD DIVA (NIAGARA) took the lead, yielded, sat pocket and cleared too late inside.

STREAMSONG (NW3000) sat to the rear, came wide and closed well but had much too far to come.

MEADOWBRANCH MEMO (NW6000) tucked, sat in and had traffic, cleared late and closed with trot.

Saturday, December 9

AINTSHEASWEETIE (NW6200FM) closed well but a step too late in last and earns long look in next.

HES A SENSATION (NW6000) came out of nowhere to scorch the track through the lane to be second best.

P L JACKSON (NW9000) yielded, retook and won by open lenghths under urging but can take another.

MACH CODE (NW14000) rushed up uncovered, challenged and was a game winner. Can win with same move and perhaps even more convincingly.

Monday, December 11

HIGHPOINT CHIP (CLM20000) squeezed into an early pocket tuck but would not sit, pulled to the top, went down the road and tired. Maybe next time.

THE BIG BEAST (CLM8000) beaten favorite went to the top, met pressure the last quarter, dug in but was unable to hold off the pocket-sitting second favorite on a night when speed tired.

OSBORNE SEELSTER (NW4) went down the road under pressure from the favorite and was nailed in the last step.

WILLEY BITE (CLM15000) had far to come and closed strongly but it was a 'little bit' too much to ask.
