Woodbine Harness: Friday 10/17 analysis

Ken Walters|Oct 22, 2014

Thursday, October 16

MACH SOME NOISE (NW1/3YOF) closed a ton and won going away to open the meet and seems to be in line for a few more winning efforts.

ONE DIAMOND (NW15000/2-3YO) finished off the daily double on opening night with a big uncovered victory and will not be 13-1 in next.

LOVES A CHALLENGE (NW2000) tried the front end and lasted until the last steps over a track that was tough on speed.

OK GODIVA (NW2FM) had traffic to clear and got free too late to menace but was more than willing.

Friday, October 17

WILDCAT HANNA (NW6000FM) left, tucked, sat in to the lane, slipped out late and closed fluidly, handily and willingly.

DEMANDING SAM (NW3) was out to the lead, yielded and was shuffled to a bad spot. He was locked on the rail in the final turn behind a bad flow and inside a weak foe, found room inside heading home with good finish but the winner was long gone.

WINDSUN REVENGE (NW3) tucked early, followed cover to the third call, lost it, stepped it up and closed going away in convincing score.

MACHNIFICENT (NW1/2YO) was reserved to the lane, tipped, set down and closed well with game finish for third.

ZIP CAR (NW3FM) put in a long uncovered bid in last, took the lead, dug in gamely but was unable to stall the fresher favorite.

Saturday, October 19

CALGARY SEELSTER (NW12000) left, took the top, yielded and was shuffled, cleared mid-lane between horses with game rally at 29-1.

UFDRAGONS ROCKET (NW12000) had a couple of noses too far to come despite a good late rally from third over.

COUGAR HALL (NW7000) brushed and crushed leaving plenty left to argue the point in next race or two.

HIGH FLIER (NW2) left well for early position, got shuffled behind a quitter, got out fourth over in the final turn to clear, ducked to the rail and finished full of pace but had lost any shot.

Monday, October 20

WATERSIDE LIGHT (NW2) was parked to the lead and under duress the entire mile, dug in gamely but was necked by the fresher late-closing favorite.

INTENSE AMERICA (NW8000) was off stride before the start, settled, broke again at the start, bobbled, nearly fell, trailed, hit the pedal heading home and closed strongly.

F TWENTY TWO (NW2000) left, tucked, got shuffled behind a dead one passing the third panel, tipped wide with too much to make up but closed stoutly to get up for 2nd.

COE LEADER (NW4000) rallied late from nowhere as the speed tired. This guy is always eligible to finish off an exacta or a triple or when the circumstances are right and a win is not a far fetched possibility either.

MACH OF BALLYKEEL (CLMHCP12/20000) finished with good pace off a poor trip to earn a long look in next race or two.
