Woodbine: Generous Consort, Ciboulette meet again in Friday allowance
ETOBICOKE, Ontario – The seven-furlong expert Generous Consort will get to ply her trade Friday at Woodbine in the contentious third race, a $56,000 allowance for Ontario-sired females.
Generous Consort, a 3-year-old trained by Darren Glennon, has started five times at the meet, all with Gary Boulanger riding. She graduated from off the pace third time out, in a seven-furlong maiden special for Ontario-sired stock, earning a respectable 68 Beyer Speed Figure.
Generous Consort doubled up in a seven-furlong Ontario-sired allowance Sept. 22, when she rallied outside from midpack to prevail under a drive with a 63 Beyer. Following a six-week break Nov. 8, she checked in third at this nonwinners-of-three level, after making a bid on the turn and then evening out.
Ciboulette outran Generous Consort for second Nov. 8, while losing by a nose at an overlaid 45-1. The victorious favorite, Crysta’s Court, captured the restricted Victorian Queen Stakes in 2012.
Ciboulette had a successful spring campaign, when she took a shorter nonwinners-of-two allowance, before ending up a close third at this classification. She wasn’t an impact player during the summer and would appear to prefer cooler weather.
Apprentice Tommy Wong will ride the 4-year-old Ciboulette again for trainer Joe Walls.
Born to Be Queen is a longshot possibility. She has proven to be well worth the $10,000 for which she was claimed in August by trainer Alison Crook.
Born to Be Queen defeated $10,000 nonwinners-of-two claimers over 6 1/2 furlongs Oct. 6. Two weeks later, she closed wide for second in a five-furlong allowance, on a day when the rail was the place to be.
Born to Be Queen stumbled at the break before finishing a flat fifth behind Ciboulette and Generous Consort on Nov. 8. David Garcia retains the mount on the 3-year-old by Bold Executive, also the sire of Ciboulette.
Silent Love has done her optimum running on the grass, over which she graduated in June. The daughter of leading Ontario sire Silent Name has since run hot and cold and is coming off a drab showing on the Polytrack.
Cafe Au Lait took the long way home when a belated fourth in the above-mentioned allowance. She rallied inside to beat easier Ontario-sired allowance opponents following an 11-month layoff Oct. 12.
Completing the field is Molly Morris, who won a Nov. 3 allowance at 11-1 in her second race with Lasix.
