Woodbine: Flashy Margaritta leads all the way in Bull Page

Flashy Margaritta wins the Bull Page
Michael Burns Flashy Margaritta, with Patrick Husbands up, wins the $125,400 Bull Page Stakes.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Flashy Margaritta broke alertly from post 6 and led every step of the six furlongs to score by a length in Monday’s $125,400 Bull Page Stakes for 2-year-old colts and geldings.

Ridden by Patrick Husbands, Flashy Margaritta clicked off fractions of 22.57 seconds, 45.59, and 57.49 en route to a final clocking of 1:09.99 on the Polytrack surface.

Spin the King, favored at 3-5, was hampered by his draw of post 1 but tracked the pace on the inside and seemed to have dead aim on Flashy Margaritta turning for home.

Flashy Margaritta had something left, however, and held sway for his second consecutive victory in three starts for trainer Ralph Biamonte.

“When I shook up my horse, he really put his head down and really ran,” Husbands said.

Spadina Road ended 2 1/2 lengths behind the runner-up in third, with Figy’s Mobil Pride another half-length back as the fourth-place finisher.
Money Talks, Grom, Grange Hilll, Bold n’ Golden, and Why Tie the Knot completed the order of finish.

Flashy Margaritta, owned by Danny Lococo in partnership with Biamonte’s wife, Mary, returned $11.60 as the second choice.

The exacta returned $22.40, with the trifecta coming back at $70.20, and the superfecta at $251.
