Woodbine: Dream Launcher romps

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Dream Launcher ($14.90) kept his unbeaten record at 1 1/8 miles intact with a decisive 4 3/4-length triumph over Parose in the $164,850 Durham Cup Handicap at Woodbine.

Jockey Richard Dos Ramos wrangled Dream Launcher just off the early pace in the Grade 3 event, and they ended up pressing fractions of 23.65 and 47.27 seconds set by Captain Wallstreet. Dream Launcher assumed command on the far turn, opened up a substantial lead at the top of the stretch, and coasted home on top in a final time of 1:52.45.

"He had a surgery, and hasn't been as good as he was last year, but he ran awesome today," said Audre Cappuccitti, who owns and trains Dream Launcher.

Dream Launcher, who captured the 2001 Victoria Park Stakes in his only other attempt at nine furlongs, earned $98,910.
