Woodbine cancels Thursday races due to sewer leak

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Woodbine has canceled Thursday’s seven-race card due to a sewer line leak at the main track and canceled training on that Tapeta surface for Thursday.
The leak occurred at the half-mile pole. Contractors have been onsite and will continue to repair the problem on Thursday.
Racing was already in jeopardy for Thursday and Friday due to the excessive heat in the weather forecast for Toronto.
Woodbine’s initial plan was to reschedule all seven of Thursday’s races for Sunday to create a 15-race card. However, the Ontario HBPA was pushing for the Thursday and Friday cards be moved to Monday and Tuesday, which would require cooperation from Woodbine and approval from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
