Won't be easy to get past Janet Is Ready in D.S. “Shine” Young Futurity

Janet Is Ready is always ready for a fight, and that personality trait should serve her well Friday night when she seeks to win her fourth consecutive race in the $60,000 fillies division of the $60,000 D.S. “Shine” Young Futurity at Evangeline Downs.
Janet Is Ready is part of a field of 10 that includes supplement Lady Flurry and the stakes-placed Cajun Gumbow. The 5 1/2-furlong race is for 2-year-old fillies bred in Louisiana.
Janet Is Ready enters off back-to-back stakes wins, with her latest the $67,000 Louisiana Cup Juvenile Fillies on Aug. 6 at Louisiana Downs.

“She’s always shown she’s competitive,” said trainer Chasey Deville-Pomier. “She’s aggressive. She’s got that mare mentality – you’ve got to get along with her or she’s not going to get along with you. She’s not the easiest horse to deal with in the barn. She’s gotta make you work for it.”
That’s been bad news for the competition. Janet Is Ready began her streak in her second start, when she won a maiden special weight over Louisiana-breds June 17 at Evangeline. She proceeded to wire her rivals in the $100,000 Prairie Gold Lassie over open company July 8 at Prairie Meadows, then used the same tactics in the Louisiana Cup Juvenile Fillies.
Arizona Kalei, who was the runner-up to Janet Is Ready in the Prairie Gold Lassie, is set to run back Friday night in the Prairie Meadows Debutante.
Janet Is Ready will break from post 6 under Vicente Del-Cid.
“We know she’s fast, we know she can get down running,” said Deville-Pomier. “She is maturing a little bit each race. We’re trying to get her where we can stretch her out, calm her down, and I think we’ll just see how far we can get her to go. She’s not really a big filly, so I’m not sure how much route we’ll get out of her, but we’ll probably get something.”
Janet Is Ready races for Carl Deville, Gerald Bruno Jr., Our Blue Streaks Stable, and Jerry Caroom. She is by Custom for Carlos and out of a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Euroears.
Lady Flurry won her career debut by nine lengths June 20 at Louisiana Downs and earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 71. It’s the best career number in the Friday field. She was third last out in the Louisiana Cup Juvenile Fillies. Gerard Melancon has the mount from post 2 for Flurry Racing Stables and trainer Karl Broberg. Lady Flurry is a daughter of Lord Nelson.
Cajun Gumbow won her debut at Lone Star Park and proceeded to run third in the track’s $150,000 Texas Thoroughbred Association Sale Futurity on July 17. C.J. McMahon has the mount from post 7 for Thompson Thoroughbreds and trainer Jayde Gelner. Cajun Gumbow is a daughter of Oxbow.
