Woman At the Well all the way in Bold Ego Stakes

Woman At the Well dominated a deep field of fillies and mares Sunday at Sunland Park, darting to a 4 1/4-length win in the $65,000 Bold Ego Stakes. Life of Illusion finished second, while it was another 1 1/2 lengths back to Super Humor in third.
The Bold Ego was one of three consecutive stakes on the card. African Heat ($6.60) accounted for the $85,000 La Senora, and Roll On Diabolical ($20) won the $85,000 Four Rivers John Deere. The Bold Ego was the lone open-company stakes, while the La Senora and Four Rivers were restricted to 3-year-olds bred in New Mexico.
Woman At the Well ($7.40) wired the field in the Bold Ego. She set fractions of 21.86 seconds for the opening quarter and 44.76 for the half-mile before covering 5 1/2 furlongs on a fast track in 1:02.80.
Roimes Chirinos was aboard the winner for trainer Weston Martin.
Woman At the Well entered the Bold Ego off a runner-up finish to multiple stakes winner Alliford Bay in the $100,000 Zia Park Distaff on Nov. 21. Prior to that race, Woman At the Well had won three straight, including the $50,000 Petticoat at The Downs at Albuquerque. She defeated a number of stakes winners Sunday.

African Heat turned the tables on Roll On Matilda in the La Senora, defeating that one by a half-length, one start after playing runner-up to Roll On Matilda. Flight Song finished third in the La Senora, 5 1/2 lengths behind African Heat.
African Heat set fractions of 21.67 seconds for the opening quarter and 44.10 for the half-mile before covering six furlongs in 1:08.90. Jockey Ry Eikleberry, a five-time title winner at Sunland who recently won his 2,000th Thoroughbred race in North America, was aboard for trainer Henry Dominguez.
African Heat is a daughter of Southwestern Heat who races for her breeders, J. Kirk and Judy Robison.
Roll On Diabolical was always prominent for a six-length win over Stoney Who in the Four Rivers. It was another neck back to Sunscreen in third. Roll On Diabolical covered six furlongs in 1:09.58. Alejandro Medellin was aboard for trainer Thomas W. Pierce. Roll On Diabolical is a son of Diabolical who races for Clara Thomas Moore.
