HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Wolfie’s Dynaghost was in career form when trainer Brian Lynch had to stop on him to have a cyst surgically removed from the now 8-year-old gelding’s ribcage. But following a bullet five-furlong work in 59.15 seconds over the Palm Meadows turf course on Sunday, Lynch feels confident bringing Wolfie’s Dynaghost back to the races in Saturday’s Grade 3, $150,000 Canadian Turf Stakes at Gulfstream Park. Wolfie’s Dynaghost, who is 14 for 32 lifetime, seeks a fourth consecutive win in the 1 1/16-mile race and his third straight since Lynch became his trainer last fall. He is coming off a front-running score in the Grade 3 Fort Lauderdale here Dec. 20. “We lost a month with him there and started him back up,” Lynch said. “He carried his condition wonderfully while he had his downtime. When we started him back, I gave him a couple of easy works and everything looked like it was ticking along in the right direction. When I worked him [Sunday] for the race, let him do a little bit, he really gave me the confidence to say, ‘Yeah, we’re ready to go.’ ” Also giving Lynch confidence is that Wolfie’s Dynaghost could be the main speed under Irad Ortiz Jr. in this eight-horse field. “He looks like he wants to run a lot further, but with this little bit of a layup and the freshening, I think with the sort of speed he’s shown, it looks like he could be the lone speed in the race,” Lynch said. “It’s a very tempting spot to let him do his thing.” :: Play Gulfstream Park with confidence! Battle of Normandy makes just his second start since the January 2025 Pegasus World Cup Turf. Battle of Normandy was third in a one-mile allowance race here Jan. 24. Battle of Normandy is trained by Shug McGaughey, who also sends out Fort Washington. That 7-year-old horse comes out of a sixth-place finish in the Grade 1 Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational on Jan. 24. Tiz Dashing makes his first start against older horses. He won the Grade 3 Hill Prince at Aqueduct in November and had a very difficult trip when beaten just a nose by Layabout in the Tropical Park Derby. Layabout came back to win the Grade 3 William McKnight and is entered in Saturday’s Grade 2 Mac Diarmida later on the card. Honey Fox Lush Lips, winner of the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup last fall as a 3-year-old, makes her 4-year-old debut in Saturday’s Grade 3 Honey Fox Stakes. The purse for the one-mile turf race is listed as $175,000, but $25,000 is available to only Florida-breds, and Souper Zonda is the only Florida-bred in the field. The QE II victory was part of a 3-year-old season in which Lush Lips went 4-3-0 in seven races and won three stakes, including the Grade 2 Mrs. Revere. Two of her wins in 2025 came at Gulfstream – one on synthetic, one on turf. Two of her three losses came to Nitrogen, who transferred her turf success to the dirt and was voted 3-year-old filly champion of 2025. :: Get Gulfstream Park Clocker Reports from Mike Welsch and the Clocker Team. No reason to think she can’t improve again as a 4-year-old.” Tyler Gaffalione rides Lush Lips from post 9 in this 10-horse field. Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. will send out three runners – Movin’ On Up, Silver Moonlight, and Public Defender – in the Honey Fox. Movin’ On Up hasn’t won since taking the Sand Springs Stakes here 11 months ago, but she has finished second or third in five stakes starts since. She was beaten just a length in the Grade 2 Pegasus World Cup Filly and Mare Turf last month. “She chased a fast pace that day and they came and ran her down,” Joseph said. “Hopefully, she can sit a little bit more Saturday. She’s not far off from turning the tables on them.” Silver Moonlight has won three consecutive races since returning from a four-month freshening during the summer. This will be the stakes debut for the 5-year-old daughter of Liam’s Map. “She’s on the upswing, drawn well. I think she will outrun her odds,” Joseph said. Public Defender finished third behind Crevalle d’Oro and Movin’ On Up in the Suwannee River before getting compromised behind a slow pace when eighth in the Grade 3 Endeavour at Tampa. Crevalle d’Oro was a late-running second at 31-1 in the Grade 2 Pegasus World Cup Filly and Mare Turf, a race in which she got further back under Jorge Ruiz than trainer Jose D’Angelo would have liked. Irad Ortiz Jr. picks up the mount Saturday. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering? Check out DRF's Handicapping 101 and Wagering 101 pages.
