ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Turfway shipper Wolfie’s Dynaghost became the latest Tapeta stakes winner at Woodbine by standout synthetic sire Ghostzapper when he wired the field under Kazushi Kimura in Sunday’s Grade 2 Autumn.
Wolfie’s Dynaghost wasted no time going straight to the lead in the 1 1/16-mile event and then proceeded to set moderate fractions with War Bomber in close proximity.
Wolfie’s Dynaghost was never seriously threatened and then drew off in the final furlong to prevail by 4 1/2 lengths, in a quick final time of 1:42.52.
Win for the Money finished second ahead of Luckman, while Artie’s Storm checked in fourth after a four-wide trip. Heavily favored Tyson was a non-threatening fifth after a three-wide trip from post 1 in the six-horse field.

Kimura was riding Wolfie’s Dynaghost for the first time for trainer Jonathan Thomas. The handsome 5-year-old gelding was saddled by sub-trainer Katerina Vassilieva.
“I spoke with (Thomas) before the race and I felt like he had a nice high-cruising pace,” Kimura said. “I just tried to keep him steady from the beginning. He was very relaxed on the backstretch and took off from the three-eighths. He had another gear for the stretch. It was a magnificent race.”
Wolfie’s Dynaghost ($9.70) earned $105,000 of the $177,100 purse for owner/breeder Woodslane Farm.
Ghostzapper, who also sired Saturday’s Grade 3 Grey victor Two Ghosts, is the sire of Queen’s Plate winners Moria, Holy Helena and Shaman Ghost.
