OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Talk to Me Jimmy, who suffered a cut on his right front foot during his 11-length victory in the Withers Stakes on Feb. 6, has resumed training. He galloped at Belmont Park on Friday, following several mornings of jogging. Trainer Rudy Rodriguez said the cut is healing fine and it shouldn’t prevent him from preparing Talk to Me Jimmy for a likely start in the Grade 2, $750,000 Wood Memorial on April 4. “He galloped good, he looks good, we’ll keep watching him,” Rodriguez said. “I should be able to breeze him four or five times [before the Wood]. So far, everything looks good.” Meanwhile, Rodriguez said Exhibition Only, who won a one-mile maiden race on Feb. 5 by 7 3/4 lengths, is going to be considered for the Grade 3 Gotham on Feb. 28 or the Virginia Derby on March 14. Both races offer 105 total qualifying points to the Kentucky Derby. The Virginia Derby, with a $500,000 purse, is run at 1 1/8 miles around one turn at Colonial Downs. :: Access the most trusted data and information in horse racing! Unlimitedpotential back home After two failed runs at both Churchill Downs and Oaklawn Park, Unlimitedpotential on Sunday is back at Aqueduct where he has won 4 of 7 starts. He is one of six horses entered in a $45,000 claiming race that could be as close to a feature as there is on an eight-race card made up mostly of claiming races. Unlimitedpotential, trained by Ilkay Kantarmaci, won three races at Aqueduct last year at distances from six furlongs to a mile. Sunday’s race is at seven furlongs. Silvestre Gonzalez, aboard for those three wins last year, is reunited with Unlimitedpotential on Sunday. There looks to be ample speed in this field with Cicciobello, Chelonian, and Mr. Papagiorgio in the field. Noted, another entrant from the Kantarmaci barn, also is a horse with speed in this field. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
