Wise Mac enters allowance on a roll

Three horses who have combined to win four allowance races, including three this year, are nevertheless eligible for Tuesday’s $45,000 first-level allowance feature at Parx Racing.
The streaking Wise Mac, last-out winner P.A. Thunder, and the long-absent A Fleet Attitude all won allowance events restricted to statebreds and remain eligible for Tuesday’s 6 1/2-furlong entry-level allowance against open company.
Wise Mac, a 4-year-old West Virginia-bred, has won three straight, all at Charles Town, by a combined margin of 15 lengths. Based at Penn National with trainer Murray Rojas, Wise Mac did not make his career debut until December of his 3-year-old season, finishing third at his home track.
Rojas shipped Wise Mac to Charles Town for three races early this season and he dominated each time as the odds-on favorite. Most recently, Wise Mac led wire to wire going seven furlongs against nonwinners-of-three statebred rivals.
The horses Rojas brings to Parx are usually well meant, as evidenced by her 6-for-20 record (30 percent) with sprinters at Parx over the past five years.
P.A. Thunder, claimed for $10,000 last October, won for the low-profile connections of trainer Felissa Dunn and seven-pound apprentice Laura Carson in a 12-1 upset on March 24. Dunn is 0 for 9 with horses coming back from a victory.
A Fleet Attitude makes his first start since October and first start since moving into the barn of John Servis. As a 3-year-old last season, A Fleet Attitude won a first-level allowance for Pennsylvania-breds going two turns and was second in a statebred stakes on turf.
Servis shows a good 4-for-13 record (31 percent) with horses making their first start after a trainer switch following a break of 61 to 180 days.
Valentino’s Gold brings fast figures and sharp recent form into Tuesday’s race. Claimed out of a win for $8,000 by trainer Phil Aristone, the 7-year-old Valentino’s Gold jumped up to defeat $16,000 claimers and then was a solid third in a first-level allowance going seven furlongs.
The most recent good effort came two weeks ago. Aristone’s record with in-the-money finishers back in 14 days or less in an allowance sprint is 6 for 28 (21 percent) with a positive return on investment of $2.17.
