Coady Photography Wire Me Bessie, ridden by Joe Patin, wins the Tellike Stakes by four lengths Friday night.

OPELOUSAS, La – Under confident handling by Joe Patin, a winner of two races on the undercard, Wire Me Bessie eased out around the leaders entering the stretch and stormed home by four expanding lengths in Friday night’s $60,000 Tellike Stakes at Evangeline Downs.

Adrianne G finished second in the five-furlong turf dash for fillies and mares, a half-length in front of last year’s Tellike champ, Snappy Girl. The final time over the “good” turf course, which was being used for the first time since the meeting began April 8, was 57.51 seconds.

Trained by Demetrius Faul for Beth Clavelle and Mike Arnaud, Wire Me Bessie ($26.60) won for the eighth time in 20 starts and for the first time in three tries on grass. The 6-year-old daughter of Wire Me Collect banked $36,000 for her connections and has earned just over $335,000.
