Winning Vision cruises to victory in Princess of Palms

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Winning Vision, the heavy favorite off some good Southern California form, including a win Sept. 20 at Los Alamitos, had little trouble validating that support as she proved an easy winner Saturday in the $35,000 Princess of Palms at Turf Paradise.

Owned by C J Racing LLC and trained by Molly Pearson, Winning Vision ($4) chased early pacesetter Mechaya in the six-furlong main-track event for fillies and mares, took over from that tiring rival into the lane, and drew off to win easily by 2 3/4 lengths under Scott Stevens. Be Proud, the second choice, rallied for second, while Always a Chance made it an all-invader trifecta as she rallied for third in the field of eight.

Winning Vision ran the distance in 1:09.08, and the winner’s share of $21,049 gives her earnings of $131,508 from five wins in 11 starts. As good as she looked and should she recover well from this, she could point for the City of Phoenix, another six-furlong event here Nov. 14. Another option would be to wait for the Cactus Flower at 6 1/2 furlongs here Dec. 5.
