Win Win Win will sit out rest of year

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Win Win Win is getting the remainder of the year off and will be pointed to a 4-year-old campaign, trainer Mike Trombetta said Thursday.
A recent winner of the Manila Stakes, a one-mile turf race at Belmont on July 4, Win Win Win was thought to be a candidate for either the $1 million Saratoga Derby on Aug. 4 or perhaps the Grade 1 H. Allen Jerkens, a seven-furlong dirt race on Aug. 24. But Trombetta feels the horse is in need of a rest and was sent to owner Charlotte Weber’s Live Oak Plantation in Ocala, Fla., earlier this week.
“We had some decisions to make what to do going forward, and we elected to give him a rest now and start back with him in the fall and get him ready for next year,” Trombetta said.
Trombetta noted that Win Win Win had been in his barn since early spring of his 2-year-old year and has had nine races beginning last November without a proper break.

Win Win Win won the Pasco Stakes at Tampa Bay in February, finished third in the Tampa Bay Derby in March, and was second in the Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland in April. He finished 10th in the Kentucky Derby and seventh in the Preakness before his victory in the Manila, his turf debut.
“Just all the racing and traveling,” Trombetta said, has caught up with Win Win Win. “This is the best way we can have a great year next year, and it starts right now. I think he can be a really good horse if we do right by him.”
