Win Willy stormed from last to first to get the job done as the 8-5 favorite in Saturday’s $121,950 Brandywine Stakes at Delaware Park. Ridden by Abel Castellano Jr. for trainer Mac Robertson, the 4-year-old Win Willy ($5.40), was last of seven after a half-mile in 48.26 seconds set by the 13-1 longshot I Know Why and was still fourth with a furlong remaining in the 1 1/16-mile race. Win Willy, second three weeks ago while making his first start since April, finished fastest of all while racing on the far outside part of the track to get up by a length over the 21-1 outsider Not Abroad. It was another three-quarters of a length back to In the Juice in third. In winning for the first time since January, Win Willy ran the distance in 1:42.45. He had subsequently finished first in the Grade 3 Razorback Handicap at Oaklawn Park, but was later disqualified from the purse money. Overall, Win Willy, a son of Monarchos owned by Jer-Mar Stable, has won 5 of 13 starts.
