Wins tend to come in bunches for Pattys Saint, the favorite in Saturday’s $100,000 Abigail Kawananakoa Stakes for Quarter Horse fillies and mares at Los Alamitos. Pattys Saint has won 19 of 27 starts since her career began in Idaho in 2020. After losing her first three starts, Pattys Saint has compiled winning streaks of two, four, eight, four, and currently two races. Since the slow start to her career, 6-year-old Pattys Saint has never lost more than two consecutive races. This year, Pattys Saint is unbeaten for owners Matt and Bendi Dunn and trainer Monty Arrossa, winning the $100,000 Charger Bar Handicap at 400 yards in January and the $60,000 Miss Princess Handicap at 350 yards on May 4. The Charger Bar is Quarter Horse racing’s leading race of the winter for fillies and mares. The Kawananakoa is one of the sport’s leading races for the division in the spring. :: Subscribe to the DRF Post Time Email Newsletter: Get the news you need to play today's races!  The Dunns bought Pattys Saint privately last fall from the estate of the late Robert Harrison, who bred and owned the mare. Pattys Saint is part of a field of 10 in the Kawananakoa, which honors the memory of the late owner and breeder. The field includes Fearless Moon, the champion 3-year-old filly of 2023 who was second by a half-length in the Charger Bar in her last start. A three-time winner, Fearless Moon will race at 350 yards for the first time in her 14th career start on Saturday. Jessica Cruz and Budder Off Friends are part of Saturday’s field after finishing second and third in the Miss Princess. Neither threatened Pattys Saint who won by a length. Budder Off Friends recovered from a slow start in that race to lose by 1 1/4 lengths. Aj Born Runnin had a two-race winning streak end in the Miss Princess after a tardy start. Fourth by two lengths in the Charger Bar in January, Aj Born Runnin later won two 350-yard races for fillies and mares as the favorite – the Denim N Diamonds Handicap on Feb. 24 and the Virginia Hyland Stakes on April 13. Aj Born Runnin won the Denim N Diamonds from the outside post in a field of 10 and has the same draw in Saturday’s race. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
