Wildcat Red works at Gulfstream for Oklahoma Derby

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Wildcat Red worked five furlongs in 1:00.23 with Edgard Zayas aboard after the renovation break here Tuesday in his final local prep for the Grade 3 Oklahoma Derby on Sept. 28 at Remington Park.
Wildcat Red posted splits of 23.70 and 35.69 seconds and completed his final quarter in 24.54 while being nudged slightly by Zayas near the wire. He galloped out six furlongs in 1:15.15.
Wildcat Red finished fifth in the Grade 1 King’s Bishop at Saratoga in his last start. He won the Quality Road here in June and the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth in February.
“We were happy with the work, he scoped clean, so we’re sticking with our plan to go to Remington,” said trainer Jose Garoffalo, who was attending the Keeneland September sale Tuesday. “He flies out on Wednesday, and Edgard has the mount.”
