Wildcat Red has Kentucky Derby work pushed to Sunday

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - For the second consecutive morning, trainer Jose Garoffalo was forced to postpone a scheduled work at Gulfstream Park for his Kentucky Derby hopeful Wildcat Red on Saturday due to heavy rains in south Florida.
More than two inches of rain has fallen at Gulfstream over the last two days, with the second deluge striking during the early morning on Saturday. The main track was sloppy and sealed and the dogs were out throughout the four-hour training session.

“It’s not a problem - I had a three day window built into his training schedule for this work,” said Garoffalo. “The weather report calls for sunshine the rest of the day, so the track should be fast and in good shape to breeze him on Sunday.”
Wildcat Red, who won the Fountain of Youth and was a narrowly beaten second behind Constitution in the Florida Derby, is scheduled to fly to Louisville on Tuesday and have one more work prior to the May 3 Kentucky Derby next weekend at Churchill Downs.
Social Inclusion, who is now 25th on the Kentucky Derby points list following the defection of Cairo Prince, also had his scheduled work canceled on Saturday by trainer Manny Azpurua.
