Wickedizaswickeduz, If You Like It drop in class for Sunday claimer
Wickedizaswickeduz will appreciate the class relief when she runs in a $15,000 claiming race that will serve as the featured race at Emerald Downs on Sunday. The six-furlong sprint for fillies and mares appears to be a wide-open event, and a case could be made for or against most of the eight horses entered. It goes as race 7 on a 10-race card that begins at 2 p.m. Pacific.
Trained by Larry Ross, Wickedizaswickeduz likes to be involved early. She was taken out of her game when she broke a step slowly from the rail with Leslie Mawing aboard in a first-level allowance race won by Hastings invader Bonus Spin on June 12. In her only other start this year, she set the pace before fading in an optional $62,500 claiming race at Golden Gate Fields on April 30. The winner, Toomuchisnotenough, earned an 84 Beyer Speed Figure when she repeated in a similar race at Golden Gate on June 9.
Wickedisaswickeduz drew post No. 4, where Mawing can either put her on the lead if she breaks on top or let her stalk Lo’s a Rising Star, who also has speed and is breaking directly to her left.
If You Like It is taking a more drastic drop after not being much of a factor in the $50,000 Washington State Legislators, won by the 3-year-old filly B C Z Middleton. If You Like It will be looking for her first win for trainer Michael Puhich since she won a $15,000 claiming race for nonwinners of three April 30.
Seattles Best Copy, trained by Debbie Van Horn, is stepping up in price after losing to next-out winner Parkers Delight in a $10,000 claiming race June 12. It was her first loss in four starts this year.
