Wicked Trick, Firenze Fire drill for General George Stakes

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – New York-based runners Wicked Trick and Firenze Fire both put in workouts Sunday morning at Belmont Park in preparation for a start in Saturday’s Grade 3, $250,000 General George Stakes at Laurel Park.
Wicked Trick, who has reeled off six consecutive victories, worked five furlongs in 1:01.90 and galloped out six furlongs in 1:14.08.
Wicked Trick, claimed for $16,000 by Linda Rice last summer at Saratoga, is coming off a 9 1/4-length victory in a starter allowance here on Jan. 20 for which he earned a 101 Beyer. Wicked Trick, a 5-year-old gelding by Hat Trick, has won all four of his starts for Rice after winning his previous two for Michelle Nevin.

Firenze Fire, who won his eighth career stakes when he captured the Gravesend on Dec. 22, worked four furlongs in 50.38 seconds over the Belmont training track.
Irad Ortiz Jr. is expected up from Florida to ride Firenze Fire in the General George, according to trainer Jason Servis.
As of Sunday, the only other two confirmed starters for the General George were Still Having Fun and Honor the Fleet.
