Wicked Affair triumphs in Kindergarten Futurity
Wicked Affair won Sunday’s $321,800 Kindergarten Futurity for Quarter Horses at Los Alamitos from the outside post, avoiding the trouble that plagued several rivals in the 300-yard race.
Ridden by Jesus Rios Ayala, Wicked Affair ($9.20) overcame a sluggish start to win by three-quarters of a length over 7-1 Striver. Ms Ko, a 12-1 chance who was feisty in the paddock and walking ring, finished third in the field of 10.
Sc Money Maker, the even-money favorite, finished fifth after being bumped repeatedly at the start and again about 100 yards into the race.
Wicked Affair, a filly by One Sweet Jess, has won 2 of 3 starts and earned $140,341 for Pete Parrella’s Legacy Ranch and trainer Terry Knight.
Wicked Affair won her debut in a 300-yard maiden race on April 14 and was second in a division of the Kindergarten trials on May 6 to Sc Money Maker, who set the fastest qualifying time.
Wicked Affair was one of six fillies in the first futurity of the year at Los Alamitos.
