Who's the Star breaks track record in Durham Cup victory

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Who’s the Star shattered the 1 1/16-mile synthetic track record at Woodbine in a come-from-behind victory in Saturday's Grade 3 Durham Cup.
In his first Tapeta start, Who’s the Star missed the break from the outside post 8 and trailed going down the backstretch under Emma-Jayne Wilson. At the front, Like the King and War Bomber dueled through quick splits before Artie’s Storm loomed up outside War Bomber entering the stretch to assume command.
Who’s the Star rallied furiously on the outside and got up by a half-length over Artie’s Storm, while War Bomber faded to third in the eight-horse field.

The final time of 1:40.73 easily exceeded the previous record of 1:41.51, set by Treason on Sept. 4.
Who’s the Star gave trainer Mark Casse his fourth winner on the E.P. Taylor Stakes card.
“I knew this horse would come running on end,” Wilson said. “That’s what he did the last time he was here. He handled the [surface] beautifully. He was sharper today. Mark had him primed for the cutback in distance. He was able to sit a little handier than what I expected. Down the backside, I gave him a little tap on the shoulder. He moved up and was on the bridle and willingly moving forward. I knew when I gathered him up and pulled that trigger that he was going to give me a big bullet. It was impressive.”
Who’s the Star, who won the July 30 Niagara Stakes here on the grass, paid $20.10. The son of Tonalist banked $90,000 of the $157,500 purse for M Racing Group.
