White Moonstone added another feather to the cap of both Godolphin and her sire, Dynaformer, at Doncaster on Friday as she cruised to a five-length victory in the Group 2, $123,000 Champagne Stakes. She came from last to first under Frankie Dettori in the one-mile contest for juvenile fillies, leading at the three-sixteenths pole to defeat longshot Al Madina. Her time for the straight mile on good ground was 1:38.73. The 8-11 favorite, White Moonstone is now 3 for 3, having won the seven-furlong, Group 3 Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket on Aug. 7. Trainer Saeed bin Suroor said that she would go next in the Group 1 Fillies Mile at Ascot on Sept. 25. Zebedee put trainer Richard Hannon back on the winning juvenile track with a hard-fought neck tally over the late running Dinkum Diamond in the Group 2, $123,000 Flying Childers Stakes. In scoring for the fourth straight time, Zebedee added to victories in the Group 3 Molecomb Stakes and the Tattersalls Millions Auction Stakes. Ridden by Richard Hughes as the 10-3 favorite, he covered the five furlongs in 59.42. Samuel won the Group 2, $154,000 Doncaster Cup – at 2 1/4 miles the secondlongest group race in England – defeating Tastahil by 1 1/4 lengths with Motrice third and the 3-1 favorite, Opinion Poll, fourth. The result was a reversal of the Group 2 Lonsdale Cup, in which Opinion Poll had beaten Samuel a half-length into second. Ridden by William Buick, the 5-1 winner traveled the distance in 3:52.99. Trainer John Gosden said that Samuel would run next in the 2 1/2-mile Prix du Cadran at Longchamp on Arc Day as long as the ground was not heavy.
