What's Your Point back in familiar spot

Trainer Gary Contessa has dominated the current inner-track meeting and enters the penultimate week of racing over the winterized surface with a 21-win advantage over his nearest rival, Bruce Levine. Thursday's six-furlong feature offers a glimpse of one of the reasons Contessa leads the standings: He has done a shrewd job of spotting What's Your Point at the same allowance level at which she won two starts back.

, 4, returned from a six-month layoff in January and finished second in a second-level New York-bred allowance event, which carried an optional claiming price of $25,000. She came back to win a similar race two weeks later, then returned following a month's rest to win an open one-other-than allowance. On Thursday, with her allowance conditions pretty much exhausted, What's Your Point runs back in another second-level statebred optional claimer - but this time for the $25,000 claiming price, forcing handicappers and Contessa's fellow trainers to play a guessing game.

and Artistic Express figure to offer serious challenges to What's Your Point. Tax the Queen is trained by Frank Amonte Jr., who recently took over the training duties for Paraneck Stable. Tax the Queen, also entered for the $25,000 claiming price, came up empty in her sprint return March 5 after being away from the races for more than 11 months. She came into her own routing over the inner track last year and should be running late now that she's had a prep.

hasn't run since failing in the Fifth Avenue division of the New York Stallion Series over the main track in November. Her work tab is a bit spotty and she will be facing older horses for the first time, but she did win off workouts to begin her career at Saratoga last August before taking the Joseph A. Gimma, a New York-bred sprint stakes at Belmont, in just her second career outing. Trained by Mike Hernandez, Alan Garcia will be aboard Artistic Express.

Road to Town, Sweet Nobility, Earhart, Allison's Approval, and Cavan Success round out the field.
