What a View likely to rest until Shoemaker Mile

What a View, the dominant turf miler at the Santa Anita winter-spring meeting, will have a quiet month in April following his third consecutive stakes win at Santa Anita last Saturday.
Trainer Kenny Black said on Wednesday that the $400,000 Shoemaker Mile at Santa Anita on June 4 is a goal for What a View, a one-length winner of the Grade 3 Thunder Road Stakes on a yielding turf course last weekend.
“He’s been one that looks like he’ll run good with time between races,” Black said. “The last three times I’ve run him, I’ve pulled his shoes off for 10 days and let him get some air in his feet. I’ve walked him barefoot for a week or 10 days, and I think I’ll give him two weeks this time.”
What a View was unbeaten in four starts at the Santa Anita winter-spring meeting, a span highlighted by a win in the Grade 1 Frank Kilroe Mile on March 12.
What a View, a California-bred by Vronsky, has won 6 of 12 starts and earned $592,148 for Finish Line Racing, the estate of Bud Johnston, and Patsy and Sal Berumen.
